Fashion Week in LA was absolutely well done and gorgeous this year. I did miss some highlights and events, but one must pick and choose very wisely.
‘LA Runway’, event by Parris Harris Entertainment was an excellent choice especially since hey were doing a food drive for the LA Mission’s.
I brought another part of our Fast Lane Magazine editorial team, Rene Rivers with me to the event. One must always have fashionable friends with you. Rene Rivers (StyledbyRene.com) is a stylist, I knew she would enjoy the runway and clothing.
We checked in early so we got to watch run through’s and set up.
It’s always nice to know what you are getting into.
In Los Angeles we’ve had our issues with Fashion Week. This year however was organized and brilliant. In LA we aim to achieve more than NYFW by including the strange, unusual and always unexpected. I’m pleased to say Parris Harris Entertainment really went above and beyond with this show. Although it was a lengthy 4 hours it was worth every minute.
HUGE Thanks to Parris Harris. He seated in the front so we got a really clear view.
Front Diva. It’s what being a Fashion Editor is all about.
The place was packed.
I swear I though people would start swinging from the rafters. It was THAT kind of packed.
We were lucky to here a few kind words from one of the chair of the LA mission who serves over 2,000 meals a day here in Los Angeles to the homeless and needy. This woman is a saint.
After intro’s from the talented Alicia Hardesty & the LA Mission L Runway at Mansion rocked it with sexy Brazilian hitting the runway. Ay Mami!
If anyone ever says LA is boring again I am hiring these girls to come over. They WRECKED the runway.
Other AMAZING performances were by a high energy girl group called The Dolls
A one woman show who gives Lady Gaga a run for her money (somebody email this girls number to me), Spankie Valentine.
Spankie is not only gorgeous but she knows how to work a stage, an audience and bring the music. She’s got talent and style. Obviously influenced by Diva’s like Beyonce, Janet Jackson with a tiny dash of 80’s glam costuming. She’s got sass and flash and is definitely someone to keep an eye and ear on.
Check out pics from her ferosh stage show;
An amazing 9 year old songstress with a BIG voice Rianna
And one of the most talented violinst’s I have ever seen.
The Musicians were top notch and I will be forever grateful I got to see them perform each of their unique talents.
Six designers were featured on the runway throughout the evening. All the designers were amazing my favorites were Camille Wood, Jewelry Designer Carol Lynn Sweet of Sweet Designs and my friend Shekhar Rahate (you still owe me a drink!). I will be doing a piece on Carol’s jewelry line later this week but for now go check out here pieces at;
For crazy fun and swim/clubwear with some sass look no further than Camille Wood.
Camille has a killer smile, a mass of blond hair and is just all around fun. Her fashion is exactly the same with an addition of fantasy and swimsuits made for killer bodies. She topped them all with elegant and bejeweled headdresses making for a perfect outfit for the modern day Cleopatra. Or ballsy girl who loves to show shes more than the average beach girl.
Shekhar Rahate ended the show with classic beauty. His dresses have been seen on stars and celebrities at The Grammys, Helium Magazine, LA Fashion Week and at NY Fashion Week. The man is a master of his trade and produces nothing short of elegance.
Most of the dresses featured in Shekhar (literally meaning sugar) Rahate’s collection were lean, long and full of feminine grace. Gold hues mixed with Indian prints. Flowers printed silks and cottons were topped with elegant headdresses Definitely the man to go to for a red carpet dress.
