Memorial Day Movie Goodness, ‘Wolverine’ Trailer #Yes #ComingSoon #MovieHappy

Because in America we don’t ‘really’ honor Memorial Day as day of the fallen (we should), I give you a movie trailer. It is about a soldier but that is where the similarity ends with the whole holiday thing.

Let’s segue way in the awesome-ness that is Wolverine.

I LOVE Hugh Jackman. Anyone who can sing, dance, act ponce-y and be buff bad ass with facial hair issues is a hell of an actor. He needs a walk of fame star, and if he has one, he needs another. Besides being a great actor he play’s Wolverine to the teeth and kick’s ass at it. Hugh Jackman is owning this movie. The story line is epic and as a lead actor he know’s what he is doing.

I am dying that they went Japanese with this and they have a hot girl samurai warrior played by Rila Fukushima.

Rila Fukushima is not only great with a sword, but is a 5’7 fashion model from Japan. She started by working with D&G in 2004 and she has been a non-stop campaign and runway girl since. Rila has worked with Ben Taylor and rock god, Lenny Kravitz, as a video girl making her talented and hot. I am glad to see her expanding her sexy, crazy skills. Score one for Japan!

Last and never least, Famke Janssen. I have seen her bottom out and have taken some paycheck movies so to see her back as Jean Grey is awesome! Something about tall Dutch hottie’s (see Yolanda RHOBH).

Famke Janssen is smart, can act and at 47 (yes 47 boys) is a hot 6 foot tall Dutch girl who can steal any man’s heart. I am eternally thankful for the director’s casting her in this as the one X-men comeback character.

We all know how to work Valentine’s Day for the woman in your life. Chocolate’s, lingerie, card’s, romantic dinners and the favorite, Jewelry. Let’s face it, buying for the woman in your life is easy. Valentine’s Day is 90% geared to the feminine persuasion and we get happy and romantically stupid over the smallest things (see jewelry).

This real question for the ladies. What do you get your boyfriend? A tie (see NO)? A geek toy (they already own it and haven’t told you)? Golfing lessons with Tiger Woods? Ok, he might like that one. Real dedication and love are none of these things ladies. What he really want’s is a date night involving a totally ludicrous, sexual, violent guy flick. And I have just the thing.

Sushi Girl is everything he ever wanted.

Gratuitous violence. Yeah there is plenty of that thanks to Tony Todd, Andy Mackenzie, Sonny Chiba and the most AWESOME Danny Trejo. Sex? A hot Courtney Palm leads as the ‘Sushi Girl’ laid out as myotaimori (a sushi table/girl). Witty Banter? Add Mark Hamill as the toady, simpering and wicked smart Crow. A secret knight in shining armor with a penchant for nose candy, James Duval. And our hero? Fish played by the ever awesome Noah Hathaway.

What happens when you put together a crew of seasoned professionals like Tony Todd who has a masterful career spanning 20+ years, Andy Mackenzie who has been in over 70 film and TV features ( from The Mentalist, CSI, True Blood), Mark Hamill who will forever be known for his awesome portrayal as young Skywalker, James Duval who will forever be Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko in my mind and Noah Hathaway who known his portrayal as Atreyu in the Never Ending story?

Mother-effing-magic.

How do I know ‘HE’ will like it? I was lucky enough to catch a screening at the Directors Guild. It made me squeamish, happy, sad and scream bad ass at the end. It’s been called Tarinto-esque and it really is. I’ll describe this feature as a ‘happy slice of hell’.

‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer by Guillermo Del Toro. Bring on the DESTRUCTION #GODZILLA!!

Godzilla move over. Mothra beware. Guillermo Del Toro is bring the Apocalypse with his new monster movie ‘Pacific Rim’ and it’s a whole lotta destruction. We’re talking robots, monsters, the full sci-fi gambit with plenty of fireballs, lasers and a few demolished landscapes.

 

Okay Robots-check, Monsters-check, Ninjas-check, references to every anime I ever watched including Voltron? Hell yes.
Now the question is which end of the world would you rather see? The Mayan calendar or ‘Pacific Rim’?
Yeah, I thought so. See you at the movies kittens.

Robocop Redux, Stealing my Childhood, One Piece at a Time

This has to stop. Every time a Hollywood producer makes a remake, a kitten dies. Ok, maybe not, but I die a little inside.

The newest victim; Robocop. According to ComingSoon.net these are the newest pictures being released of the ‘new’ and very much NOT improved Robocop.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. I will say this in its favor;

1) In this global economy everyone needs a paycheck…badly. (They are filming this in Toronto, which is like Canada stealing our cash/jobs for our film industry. I ❤ Canadians but it is bad form by the producer.)

2) Great cast co-starring Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. With Joel Kinnamin as Robocop (Game of Thrones, for you geeks).

Joel Kinnamin is a Swedish-American from Stockholm, so I can’t throw shade (I’m Swedish, gotta support your people). However he was utterly unlikable on ‘Game of Thrones’s’ (- one point). But to he IS dating Olivia Munn (+ point there).

I have mixed feelings about this production. Great cast, possibility for good movie. Destroying my childhood like this, well EVERYONE has had enough. Plus, the suit looks more Alien vs. Predator than Robocop.
