This Spring it’s all or nothing. A nod to the past has brought back defined shapes and a play on colors. Put away your floral’s and head to the stores to pick up your favorite look  with an 80’s flare. Shoulder pads are in and demure is out. These looks are soft but tough. Vintage, yet modern.

Classy ladies wear pastels;

At Tom Ford, Gigi Hadid and other supermodels, are wearing pretty pastel pink and yellow. The bold splash of color teases the eye but doesn’t dominate the outfit. Other favorites on the runway consisted of baby blue and a pale or mint green. This season has a sweet statement, with light beauty makeup, a classic closed toe heel, glitterati sparkle, finishing off the look with a splash of color.

Mix and match with a dash of color yet not overpowering. Embrace the suit jacket and boxed shoulder. Skips the nudes and head for pastels. It’s an update, with a nod to the classics, and modern update.

In the history of fashion the 1970s were all about nudes, browns, and stylistically very much about ruffles and loose clothing. In the mid 1980’s there was a huge backlash to the constant earth tones and relaxed style of clothing  and woman embraced striking color, square figures and streamlined looks. 1980’s inspired looks are full of bright colors, animal and cartoon prints, finding their niche on the runway and back into the fashion fold in 2018.

Spring/Summer brings color back to the fashion market. This season’s statement is all about the bold and beautiful.  Often seen on the runways of Moschino, The Blonds and jewelry designer Lynn Ban, extreme color is no longer a closet trend.

Seen on 2018’s Spring collection’s we are embracing the adventurous. Animal prints, crazy cartoons, hot pink and orange, electric blues, these have come back in a totally eclipsing way. It’s time to embrace the 80’s colors but instead of being over-sized, mixing and matching, keep your outfit a focused and fearless outline. Bust out your leopard, zebra and giraffe prints. The 80’s are roaring and it’s time you caught up.

Having lived through the 80’s as a child, I missed this playful era of fashion. It means dusting off a dated era and adding an update that makes gives it a contemporary look. Looks that are simplistic, yet eye catching in their statement. Shoulder pads are making a comeback the right way this time, and print’s with color are inspiring and acceptable again. Streamlining your look makes it easy to find an outfit in your closet, no more messy mix and match. Floral’s and 90’s inspired grunge, have given way to much stronger use of colors, even in pastel.

Color, no matter how you wear it is in, and the 1980’s style has a very strong foothold.

‘American Hustle’ Looks Gooood, Except for B. Coop’s Wig #AmericanHustle #StarStudded #BadHair

Let it be known, I am totally crushed out on Bradley Cooper. My roommate, is head over hot heels in lust with Jeremy Renner. Both of us of course are in total lust with the Bale. Add a few elements to our celebrity crushes like the following AMAZING cast; Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, Louis C.K., Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Rohm, Alessandro Nivola (HOT up and comer) and you have the new Casino for 2013, ‘American Hustle’.

American Hustle, is looking good.

It’s a story of scams, or the Abscam of the 70s and 80s.

According IMDB.com;

The story of a con artist and his partner in crime, who were forced to work with a federal agent to turn the tables on other cons, mobsters, and politicians – namely, the volatile mayor of impoverished Camden, New Jersey.

It’s all edutainment, but story line be damned. With a cast like that they is no way they can’t win. Bale may look like a used car salesman but being a method actor, really great at his trade and H-O-T no matter what you do with him, owns this movie. Jennifer Lawrence I am happy to say is stretching her acting chops as a diva New Jersey sexpot/housewife, B. Coop is tragically coifed, but still can act and plays a good wimpy sleazebag. Amy Adams, scores another one for redheads everywhere, proving she can act AND that with the help of a personal trainer, she OWNS being head sexpot in this movie.

It’s wham, bam, thank you ma’am with a whole lot of espionage, drugs, sex and something about FBI entanglement. Looks like an hour or two of rollicking fun. This movie is SO new and fresh, they don’t even have a movie poster for it. Still I predict this to be an Oscar sweep for next year. Don’t trust me? See for yourself!

Jean Paul Gaultier Takes Back the 80’s and Brings the Fierce, SS 2013 Collection (video/gallery)

I admit I am a huge fan of 80’s music. All things one hit wonder I have on my iPod and of course I am a ridiculous Bowie fan. I am also a HUGE Jean Paul Gaultier fan.

When these two things coincide and come together we have JPG’s SS 2013 collection.

This season he conquered eccentric costume clothing for SS 2013 and took the 80’s back. Jean Paul Gaultier re-created something that was both an homage and a new look at an old glamorous style with geometric shapes, sheer clothing and dashes of monochromatic mixed with blinding and beautiful color prints.

As usual he conquered Paris Fashion Week SS 2013 with everything Gaultier. With KISS in the front row causing quite a stir he started the show with fierce 80’s inspired suits, complete with sexy cut outs and ending with Amanda Lear and a cavalcade of sexy man beasts in mesh outfits sporting sky-high platform heels (not boots, heels).

No wonder this man is one of my top five favorite designers. His insane quality, design, style and vision most definitely set him apart.
