As Labor Day weekend is upon us I find there are many things to do;
1) go to Burning Man
2) Got to pool party with mediocre food and drunks college kids
3) Go to EPIC fashion show in San Diego with Couture Gowns……
And of course I will be choosing three.
Kenneth Barlis is known for his events in the south-ish bay. His couture gowns are drool invoking and too fabulous. Not only that but designer, and personal favorite Camille Wood will be there showing her new animal inspired line. Add the beauty of San Diego and its Gaslamp District and I am off on another event covering adventure.
August 30th I will be there in spades (and a really gorgeous outfit) watching the magic happen and documenting it for all. Want to come rub shoulder with me and the other fan-tab-u-lous designers and fashion folk? Then come down! Buy tickets here;
Last night at the VMA Pre-Performance young gorgeous and 20 something Ariana Grande killed it with a beautiful performance. Despite her being a self-described ‘ball of nerves’ her performance hit the red carpet and voice was beautiful.
And so was her clothing.
You might remember, if you actually read this blog, a piece I did on the store ‘Bizzy B of Hollywood’ where they shot Magic Mike and have lingerie, costumes, menswear, fetish wear and then some. The owner has Beatrice Prochazka has been making Hollywood prettier for 12 years and continues to do so, by making custom Swarovski wear for celebrities all over the world.
One of them being Ariana Grande! That’s right. That gorgeous custom Swarovski corset was an original piece by the lovely BeatricePro/BizzyB of Hollywood herself. Every darn crystal. Beatrice also works with stars like;
Nicki Minaj, Paris Hilton, Bad Girls Club, Traci Bingham, Corey Feldman, The Girls Next Door, Cee-Lo, Ginuwine and Tank as well as creating custom pieces for performance and for the ladies, the boudoir.
Beatrice Pro and R&B Star TANK
Custom pieces are by appointment only but if you are interested in snagging one there are beautiful pre-made pieces on display in the store.
For your piece head to;

I thought I had seen it all. Thanks to Youtube and DSquared2, I now know that I haven’t.
This very insane and unique video with Jasmine Tookes and Cara D. bring the cray-cray. Shot by the mad genius Senio Zapruder, this video not only has some of the most gorgeous pre-fall 2013 womenswear, but walks the fine line of insanity. Way to go boys, you did it again.
Enjoy the crazy below…..
Even though it’s 90 degrees out and you are still planning next weeks pool party it’s time to get a jump on fall wardrobe. The term ‘always be prepared’ applies her, especially when it comes to shopping!
Being a true fashionista at heart means hours of scouring videos, runways footage and trashy blogs to find you the good stuff. For now let’s start with Unkle Karl’s/Chanel basics for fall.
Think classic tweed with modern leather, over sized glasses mixed with vintage 1930s suits. Bangles that embody both vintage Coco with perfectly placed rhinestones and the new wave of women who prefer fierce, clunky and something with an edge.
Ready to start shopping for the new you en le Monde Chanel?
Excellent. Below are two video’s to give you an edge on winter so you’ll be the head of the pack and queen bee of accessory.
Enjoy Chanel’s Fall/Winter runway for Ready to Wear in 2013/14.
In ‘Women Only’ Karl Lagerfeld manages to bring together LITERALLY every high fashion supermodel in the world for this unique view on Chanel’s Fall/Winter wardrobe.
When working in the creative industry you learn it’s all a small incestual family full of love/hate relationship’s and stupid BS fight’s. Trust me friends I have many, enemies are…well, my gossiping friends. It all add’s up to be a small world.
And Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey are two of those people. These two lovely song diva’s were friends back in 2009 when they were young hopefuls in NYC. Drinking, carousing and beating up random strangers were a few of their favorite activities. Now, both are making millions and rocking the pop world, Lana has a beef with young Stefani. No, it’s not her horrible taste in men (I mean Uncle Terry’s really?), or even her black ‘like my soul’ perfume. It’s just that she’s not ‘So Legit’. And she’s not taking her high falootin’, fancy shamncy, couture girl persona, without taking her down a notch.
Here’s a leak of Lana Del Rey’s dis song for Stefani. I guess you never can forget where you came from, unless a couple of martini’s are involved, of course.
Lyric’s – You were the freak king of the piercing shop All the girls thought they could sing, but they’re really not, shit I don’t get it You’re looking like a man, you’re talking like a baby How the fuck is your song in a Coke commercial, crazy I don’t get it Your taste once exquisite What happened to Brooklyn? What happened to New York What happened to my scene? What happened to punk rock, rock You called me the queen of the downtown scene, babe How the fuck would you go switch it up and then replace me I don’t get it, I’m so legit Tell me, was it ’cause I wasn’t platinum in jewels? That perhaps you thought I was a little bit even uncool Kid, was that it? Stefani, you suck, I know you’re selling twenty million Wish they could have seen you when we booed you off in Williamsburg You’re hurt, I know my words don’t hurt, yeah Oh, girl, I see you walking ’round in your pearls Thinking that you’re number one You’re so funny, ’cause honey, you’re not What happened to Brooklyn, the last frontier They said you could make it anywhere if you can make it here But where, no magic in the air What happened to Brooklyn? What happened to our scene, baby? Have we all gone Gaga crazy? Remember when the streets used to be dangerous and we were born bad And we were born bad? Punk rock, punk rock The boys used to punch each other in the face and girls were walking around wasted And everyone had a good night, come back in sunlight Punk rock, rock, rock.
High fashion has my heart and shoe’s, my encompassing, undying love. As much I may love wearing high fashion shoes that scream couture, the reality is I walk. A lot. And have business meetings. And more business meetings. Followed by a red carpet event.
So…what’s a high fashion girl to do when she needs to combine functional with fabulous all in one day?
Crocs be damned, and flip-flops shelved. Very Lovely Soles have come to my rescue with cute, chic flat’s that can cross over from me walking 3 miles to a business meeting.
The brainchild of designers Vanessa Seide and Rachel Traylor, Very Lovely Soles are gorgeous, simple, clean in design and most importantly, COMFORTABLE. With a combined 30+ years in the footwear industry these ladies combined their talents and created a winner in the land of footwear.
I love these embellished flat’s in slate. They have just the right amount of class. I can mix them with my insane sense of style.
(Added bonus: If I am wearing this towards the end of fashion week I won’t get nasty stares from my designer friends. Yes they are that awesome.)
I’m sold!
Which one’s are your favorites?
How to know you have the right flats? They come with a tiny hummingbird logo to remind you how sweet they really are. Too cute. My Japanese friends would label these super ‘Kawaii’ aka too cute for words.
Now for the sad news….
They are only available in Larchmont, New York and selected boutiques, OR…..ONLINE. Hooray for online. We love web shopping. So stop crying and get out your credit card ladies it’s time to go online shoe shopping (again…hooray).
Click the shoes below and get a pair online. They are selling out fast!
If you haven’t witnessed the Couture shows in Paris, I suggest you start your education now. Fashion and art coincide in the most beautiful manner with designers such as Alexis Mabille, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy and one of my all time favorites, Iris Van Herpen.
Iris van Herepen is not only a tented designer but is an artist with her couture line. each piece is not just unique but outstanding. Never garish and always chic she defines Haute Couture vision and represents everything it encompasses.
According to the writers at Wikipedia;
Iris van Herpen (born 5 June 1984) is a Dutch fashion designer. She studied Fashion Design at Artez Institute of the Arts Arnhem and interned at Alexander McQueen in London, and Claudy Jongstra in Amsterdam. In 2007, she started her own label. Since July 2011, she is a guest member of the prestigious Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which is part of the Fédération française de la couture.
Iris is talented, and at a very young 29 years old is a beautiful and sometimes mad genius. Her couture is outstanding and always has a strange, creature like appearance. I am completely fascinated by her work and appreciate her sense of the odd and beautiful. Hopefully you will too. Here are some shots from backstage at the van Herpen show from the lovely Lea Colombo/Models.com.

Being so busy I forgot to do a review on a great fashion show I recently was part of here in the heart of Hollywood at Supperclub. It was smart, well put together and all about the elite.
I might have not gone had it not been for the fact, the talented and tres chic, Adolfo Sanchez, had an installation there. Adolfo has been taking the international fashion market by storm. With several seasons worth of shows at NYFW, national coverage and of course a recent trip to Turkey and Western Europe, Adolfo Sanchez has broadened his lines availability and now works on couture as well.
In fact that was the first thing I saw as I walked in the door.
After a meet, greet and air kisses Adolfo and I looked on while his well-kilted assistant adjusted the installation before opening.
And open it did. The Dripped Soiree was packed and everyone was there from stylist and business entrepreneur Eric Burns, of Prep Jerks, Inc., Marianne Geisha Of GGeisha Productions and the style crew that included my long-lost friend Malakai.
After an hour or so of mingling and drinking the crowd was restless. We were thankfully rescued by being ushered into the main floor. The 5 designers presenting; Madem Black, Staci Sherri, J Loren, Reckor and FROCK LA. Allof the designers were on their game but my personal fave’s that stood out were Madem Black, J. Loren and Frock.
With a full rubber and latex collection Madem Black kicked off with delicious diva’s in rubber, latex and PVC. Letting the imagination run wild she presented outfits with peek-a-boo latex lattices. One or two pieces even left nothing to the imaginations created from see through PVC and rubber. As it should when bringing the sexy. Between the spikes and latex everyone’s jaw appropriately dropped and Madem Black left us with a sexy taste in our mouth.
J. Loren brought the 60’s kitsch with gorgeous body-con dresses. With angular shoulders, J. Loren created sexy silhouettes bringing to mind Mad Men. Although some dresses were color blocked (and well) most were divided with loud prints and black lined figures, reflecting early 60’s sectional couture. A must have in my wardrobe. It was indeed, perfect skinny girl clothing.
Frock LA, was devastating.
They ended the show with a presentation that rivals most NYFW shows. Classic elegance, embodied in a ethnic chic. Tall, lengthy girls taking the time to not only show off their lengthy gowns but pose in the moment. Sadly I only got the first few models on the runway in video but they ended the show in absolute perfection.
Huge thanks to all involved, especially GGeisha Marianne and crew. I will be covering Frock LA when Dad’s Day is over.
Check out some of the random shots I got over the evening in the gallery below.
Soo Joo took the cover this month of Vogue Japan presenting something the Japanese have been celebrating for thousands of year. Gorgeous Asian women and martial arts.
Add an editorial by the talented Hyea Won Kang, with Soo Joo in black and white designs with classic martial art poses. The talent, the supermodel and a very cool take on exercise is a win win for Vogue Japan. (I must learn Japanese!)
Classic tradition meets modern monochrome. And as you all know who do read this I am all about modern monochrome.
Not only is Paris the ‘City of Lights’ but to those of us who have spent time there, it is a city of fashion & architecture. And the people at Dior know that.
Hence, this lovely editorial of fabulous, lushly dressed models, Anastasia Ivanova, Daria Strokous, Iselin Steiro, Marie Piovesan and shot by the ever talented, Willy Vanderperre. It’s been out since May 29th, so in case you missed it’s release, here is your weekend dose of fashion elite!
For those readers hooked on the song in this video, the track is ‘Synrise’ by the Belgian band GOOSE. You can download it off iTunes and Amazon. Support good fashion, good music and good taste by doing just that.
I am a total geek girl. I admit I have collected comics, own a phone, tablet and laptop, love learning back end computer stuff and write in code. It’s a dirty secret I have come to terms with. That’s why when this dropped into my inbox I became obsessed.
This little joy is the Pocket Monkey. Designed by a mechanical engineer, Nate Barr this baby has everything you need in a utility tool:

• Flat head screwdriver: Perfect for simple projects when a standard screwdriver isn’t available.
• Micro-flathead screwdriver: Perfect for eyeglasses, watches, kids’ toys and keyless vehicle dongles.
• Two-dimensional Phillips head screwdriver: No need for cross beam with the special angled tip.
• Nested English hex wrenches with four bolt sizes: Just slide Pocket Monkey over a bolt head and slide until you find the right size. Quick and easy.
• English Ruler: What’s the difference between 3/16 and 1/4 of an inch? Find out quickly.
• Letter opener: Make quick work of your mail pile!
• Edge to open door latches: Locked your keys inside your house? If the deadbolt’s not in place, this latch slip opens locked doors without protective edging or specialty latches.
• Straight Edge: Use Pocket Monkey to help you draw a perfect straight line. Or, it can even be used a scraper.
• Orange peeler and banana nicker: Get your fruit open quickly and conveniently, without getting your fingernails messy.
YES, I have used them all. I had to TRY the product to make sure I have a reason to get excited. Once I did I got one for my dad who is a who works in Silicon Valley and my roommate ordered one. Now it’s a staple in my purse.
What makes it different from EVERY other uitli-tool? Well, the original Kickstarter.com amount was $2,000. It raised a whopping $27,550. The pocket Monkey is also lightweight and fits in your wallet or purse sans the bulk you get from so many utili-tools out there.
I am sick of something weighing two pounds in my pocket when I am working around the house, on the car, or am out and about. It’s TSA compliant so leave it in your wallet. You don’t have to worry about them stealing your precious Pocket Monkey from you.
Are you sold yet? Good. Go get yourself a Pocket Monkey here;
There are few things in this world that have my heart. One is the house of Dior. Classy, timeless and run by Raf Simons, it is purely chic. Delicious even.
The other is my old school, goth, new wave upbringing. Namely Depeche Mode who has a soundtrack to everything in my life. Their music was timeless and full of top 40 songs I have danced to since the 80s.
What do you get when you mix awesome English band Depeche Mode with Dior?
This beautifully done campaign video. Originally released in a short version the final, long version will steal your heart. I know it did mine.
Enjoy this visual eye candy.

For those of you hiding under a rock, the Met paired with Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and several other amazing CFDA board members to present “Punk: Chaos to Couture” and opened for the annual Met Gala yesterday.

Vogue had a live stream, twitter was a-tweeting and I was live tweeting my likes and dislikes of yesterdays red carpet. What? You weren’t tweeting with me? Well then go add me at @HeathyrWolfe before you start feeling guilty.
Icons of Fashion, TV and the Big Screen showed up in droves. Some fashionable, some fashionably late. Most were punk to gills as they should have been. Vivienne Westwood made a show and an amazing political plight for Bradley Manning, the soldier at the centre of the Wikileaks drama,
Madonna in Givenchy and Casadei shoes, showed some fierce punk attitude Surprisingly, Miley Cyrus was head to toe H-O-T, in a fishnet dress by Marc Jacobs,
The piece-de-resistance was Sarah Jessica Parker. She put a smile on everyone’s face with a mohawk head piece that was vintage Phillip Treacy, a Sarah Jessica Parker In Giles Deacon Dress dress and kick your ass plaid thigh-high boots.
Others were just there to share the spotlight namely our favorite resident paparazzi junkies Kimye who failed in this floral fashion flop,

Kristen Stewart who looked smashing but did nothing but smirk and eye roll on the red carpet
And January Jones who rode in on her broomstick, giving Anna Wintour a run for her money.

If you haven’t acquainted yourself with up and coming designer Monika Chiang, now is the perfect time to. Having just received an email about her fabulous shoes I thought I ought to give her website a quick spin. Always, a great idea for a new Spring/Summer wardrobe, and bad idea for my bank account. Because….I want everything! But instead I’ll share a few key pieces I love.
The “LAVA SWAROVSKI STONE NECKLACE, BLACK”
This necklace oozes charm, style and a classic chic with a twist. The black lava chain gives it an industrial feel while the Swarovski classes it up enough to wear to a nice function. Absolutely a statement piece his screams little black dress and should be paired with something as fabulous as…..
These shoes. These shoes that I am DYING for.
Lace-up sexy with a high heel to keep you above the rest the “IMENA LACE UP SANDAL, BLACK” screams La Femme Nikita. If James Bond ever turned int a woman she would bust these out. Seductress? Stiletto Sexy? Head turner? All of the above. I adore shoes so of course these are a must have on my list.
However, I am a woman on the go. I need to look smashing while being a little functional. Nothing says business like a black leather brief a la bag. I need a purse that screams business bitch, yet charms the man I am with.
Thankfully my search is over with the ever charming, “GABON LEATHER MESSENGER BAG”.
This is functional, classy and is wearable for casual dates with jeans and those^ heels (Imena has my heart). The Gabon has extra zippers for an ‘edge’ and is easily carried or worn cross shoulder if you have to hit the subway.I love the look leather gets after elongated wear. Leather is forever and can last through numerous business meetings, airline flights and keep me looking classy.
Have I piqued your interest my fashionista’s? Good. Go shop the Monika Chiang collection here:
Saint Laurent recently revamped from the iconic Yves Saint Laurent to….Saint Laurent thanks to creative director Heidi Slimane. (Read more HERE)
With a fashion house this iconic it was a daring decision and perhaps could have been a pitfall. However with a super power in the industry like (Yves) Saint Laurent they refuse to let simple things, such as a change in name, ruin a platinum reputation.
Enter Heidi Slimane. Iconic fashion & music photographer and mad genius. Add Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Ariel Pink of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. All as mad, strange and beautiful as the new house of Saint Laurent, and Heidi Slimane.
Create a campaign using all of the above rock icon’s from the ’90’s, and you have perfection with side of hardcore only Slimane is keyed into. And one beautiful campaign.
See the new faces of Saint Laurent below as captured by Heidi Slimane.
