Giving to the people, from the people rarely exists these days. Half the charities out there are a tax shelter and the other one’s don’t get any love unless helmed by a celebrity.

But wait! There is hope.

There are those of us on this planet who live with our heart on our sleeve and actually acknowledge human suffering on this planet just….to help. We’re talking about the small donations and ‘random acts of kindness’, YOU bring into this world.

That is why I stood up and became part of Lisa Reilly Photography’s AMAZING Survivor Campaign.

Lisa, who I met at LAFW had originally approached me with this campaign asking me if I would be willing to help raise funds and awareness for Cancer Survivors and their families, who are unable to pay for treatment or are left with hundreds of thousands of bills.

Check out Lisa’s IndieGoGo video for The Survivor Campaign!

I was happy to help. I also joined this campaign, being a Cancer survivor myself.

In 2013, I went for a routine check up and found out I had cervical cancer. I had to have surgery, which saved my life but left me with permanent complications and painful memories. However, they managed to cut the cells out of my body before they did major harm. I was a lucky one.

As I worked on this campaign other began to help as well. Tracie May-Wagner, CEO of May-Wagner PR contacted me. She wanted to help. She brought her client, the amazing Victor Wilde of The Bohemian Society on board. He in turn donated two pieces of his SS 2014 collection. Proving to me that there is ALWAYS support.

No one should have to stand alone in their battle against cancer. Emotional or physical.

Shooting with Lisa underwater was extraordinary. It took everything I was doing this for and changed it.Not only was I helping others who have been through and going through pain, but I created something positive out of my Cancer experience. I never thought I could look back at this as more than a charitable session but it really changed how I look back at having had Cancer and is giving me a chance to empower others that have had it.

Check out the video out of the amazing video of Amy W. & I shooting underwater and describing our experiences (Video by D’arby Rose) ;

The women pictured in Lisa’s campaign have all fought and lived with Cancer. The women above have Stage 4 Aggressive cancer, survived a double mastectomy and cervical cancer. Going through chemotherapy and severe treatments that have costed them time, sanity, health and a small fortune.

Donating to this campaign will help them continue their fight. We’re taking donations as low as $10 to help raise funds and have packages up to $5,000 for every size and income. Please help us reach our goal so Cancer victims stand a fighting chance.

Not Me, but I would like to thank the girl who took this.

Apparently so does Sonya Rykiel. Presenting hot Belgium model Hanne Gaby Odiele, Sonya Rykiel brings us a very ‘Cherry Punk’ Christmas in this short editorial viddy.

I love that designers are getting not so pretty with it and getting kinda punky. Let’s hope we see more of this, a la Cara Delevigne.

American Apparel Get’s Even More Tasteless with ‘SandySale’

American Apparel may be made in the good ole USA but that is about all they have going for them. Between their tasteless ‘teen porn’ advertisements and their constant lawsuits for sweatshop standards they are asking for a smack down.

While over 7 million suffer on the East Coast without power, and some without clean water American Apparel decide to start a ‘Sandy Sale’.

According to ABCNEWS;

Late Monday evening, American Apparel offered a “Sandy Sale” to customers who reside in states that were affected by the hurricane, including Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland.

Broadcast on the website was a message reading, “In case you’re bored during the storm, 20 percent off everything for the next 36 hours.”

Wow, Tasteless much.

People across the US (including myself) are calling, emailing, texting our relatives and friends, desperate for news of their safety. There was a fire that claimed 80 homes in Queens and storm that killed 16-18 people in NYC alone. And they use hurricane Sandy for an advertising campaign?

Good job American Apparel. I don’t think anyone back East is bored enough to buy your clothing. Chalk this up to another case of bad taste.

If you want to really help, there are funds being set up to help flood victims. Donate here.

Get Yo Ass to Ulta West Hollywood/Update

Sorry I have been a non-blogger kittens. I hate missing out on the good stuff and I promise to update over the next day or so.

In order to make up for my blogging lack there of, I am bringing you good news from the land of West Hollywood or the evil known as, ‘The West Hollywood Gateway’.

Today as I flew around town doing a million errands I landed in ‘Ulta’, West Hollywood.

I can give you a million excuses. I’m a terrible beauty product slut and of course the #1 reason….I’m a girl.

Thankfully for once I come with great news that won’t break your bank account. At this moment this particular Ulta is undergoing a refurb in the middle of the store. Since it makes shopping there ‘inconvenient’ they have marked a ton of stuff down and are using this as a reason to have major ‘clearance sale’.

Oh hallelujah, and praise the Gods of Ulta. Although the discount is trickily stuck in the cheaper aisles to the far left, it’s there if you are willing to look.

I even scored a cheap indulgence for even cheaper than normal.

– Normally around $5-10, Right now it’s priced at $2.50

This bath/shower gel is nice, light and leaves you smelling great. It’s even ok for sensitive skin and doesn’t upset people with perfume allergies.

Get your bootie out the door kittens. Ulta West Hollywood is usually open until 9pm, 7 days a week.

Looks like this will last just long enough, you can get your make up and body freak on for cheap. Now that’s something everyone can love.
