Spring/Summer 2013 New York Fashion Week shows are absolutely mind-boggling this years. Prabal Gurung has gone psychedelia 60’s and the 90’s rock and roll grunge era is being relived on the runway by some of the bigger fashion houses such as 3.1 Phillip Lim.
As always Herve Leger has stolen the show by NOT following the trend. Unique and definitely for the chic, Herve stunned me this year by taking his bandage dress and creating a feminine flirty dress and using geometric shapes to accentuate the positive.
Take a look;
-Delicious harness work on this gives this monochromatic dress a little extra sexy style
This year he stepped it up with a swim collection to die for
Itsy bitsy teeny weenie monokini I need!
Blue Bombshell, my roomie and I will be fighting over this dress if it ends up in my closet. Perfect for every woman and every shape.
The weaving on this made my heart skip a beat. A true show stopper!
As always Herve Leger kicked of SS 2013 with over the top sexy dresses for the girl who loves her curves. The swimsuits on the runway were an added bonus. Herve Leger has my vote for red carpet delicious diva’s everywhere. Invest ladies. Herve Leger’s fashion stock just went up!
Mark your calendars New York fashonistas and socialites. Adolfo Sanchez Designs will be showing his new SS 2013 line at the Chelsea Piers on September 12th. Get tickets now as it will be PACKED.
As New York Fashion Week is almost upon us and Fall is nipping at our heels, it is time to look at what the runways brought us and what trends to follow and wear.
Whether deliciously conservative or madly daring, Herve Leger is a fashion design god that makes clothing for every woman. His creativity is endless and designs every mutating and changing leaving knock offs to the obvious fakers. Those who read (and write) this blog know not to crumble and buy anything but the real deal.
I present you with an entire gallery of nothing but….Herve Leger’s 2012 Fall Collection for the ethereal goddess in you.
These last three pieces in his collection were too stunning not to share. Look’s like monsieur Leger is spreading his fashion wings.
The shape and length make this an evening gown worthy of a night at the Met.
This white gown however broke me, too beautiful for words
This however I love and is totally wearable with everything. I never thought I would say I loved a fringed leather jacket but this inspires and delights me.
Want to shop the collection?
Unfortunately it is only available for pre-order but you can still buy what you want and get a fab gift in the mail when they hit the market by going here;
I am starting to love V Magazine. First Fassbender and Theron in the uber sex photo shoot. Now Mario Testino is working with them to bring us Nicole Kidman in ‘Truth or Bare’;
Damn! Darling Nikki has bootie and she is rocking it. Check out the editorial shoot video;
Smoking Hot! I didn’t think Nicole ‘botox’ Kidman had it in her to work the camera. Or even move her face.
Bitch worked it out like a super star. Not only that but she took the classic dead girl pose and made it come to life with a RED HOT lingerie shoot.
I admit that my only issue with this shoot is she looks a little trashy. As Michael K of DListed.com says, and I quote,”Nicole Kidman looks like third tier hooker straight from the Jem! universe.”
I hate that he’s right.
All of that aside, Mario Testino shots are always above par and truly stunning. Want to see they rest?
Dear Richard Simmons, you just pissed off Mother Nature. You just brought new meaning to the phrase ‘face plant’. (drum snap please)
What in the holy hell?
Richard Simmons decided to go for a stroll in the heat of LA two days ago in another of his strange, mind-boggling, retina-burning, outfits. Normally he ‘borders’ on weird. We are kind of used to him be a strange, but likable little man. This time, not so much.
As he poses proudly in the sun in his ‘Richard of the Jungle’ outfit I have to ask; is it just the heat or has dementia set in early?
We have been pegged as a soulless society of plastic people in tinsel town. That is why I LOVE proving the outside world W-R-O-N-G.
LA is a cool town, with too much to do. We thrive in culture, artistry with a neo-futuristic background to live in reminiscent of ‘Metropolis’. We have underground culture an are the bringer’s of new, not old.
Case in point I bring you Leveled Magazine & Den.m Bar’s Wednesday social at the Hive Gallery in DTLA.
Let me explain a little about the cool cats who ran this, starting with Leveled Magazine;
Their Mission; Bringing the culture of Los Angeles (and the world) to your brain. With everything from epic editorials to fierce fashion these guys have won me over. I get sick of ‘genre’ magazines that cover one maybe two things.
This month’s issue includes a Beautiful spread on Audrey Kitching and a weird editorial article & photo shoot with stars like Bobcat Goldthwait and Kathy Griffin.
Let’s take it a step further for the fashionably aware out there.
Los Angeles hippest custom denim company Den.m.Bar was repping this too. Den.M Bar for those not in the know is best described as a couture jeans company. Walk in and pick from a huge line of custom denim creating a jean for yourself that includes picking out your own zippers, pocket cloth and even thread. Custom is the 21st century ultimate couture and now it’s accessible.
Angelenos are notoriously picky ranging from food to clothing despite our casual looking lifestyle. Which is why I only go to events like this. With fashion, culture, and an open bar. Yes, Leveled Magazine had drinks mixing voddy with One Coconut Water or ever lovely Honest Tea. There was even fizzy Kombucha from the fab people at Health-ade.
Now you have a perfect evening. I even have the pictures below to prove it.
Check out the gallery below
Seem’s LA culture is alive and well. Perhaps the whiners out there will reel in the snotty comments on how LA ‘has no culture;.
Let’s face it kittens. When we do it, we do it right and with a BANG. LA’s luxe crowd never looked so cool in 100 degree weather.
Recently I wrote a rather scathing piece on Hathaway/Catwoman and the Dark Knights choices for her horrible jumpsuit.
There may be a lighter side to the costuming in the Dark Knight.
I STILL have no love for Hathaway as Catwoman, or her costume with the mini ears. I loathe her lack of sex appeal and appreciate he was doing her best. I did however read an interview with the costume designer.
Turns out when lovely Anne was working the crazy as Selena Kyle her wardrobe was, thankfully, styled by a fashion mogul and mastermind. Thierry Mugler.
In case you are unfamiliar with Mugler, he ruled couture in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. He did all the costuming for George Michael’s ‘Too Funky’ video, has worked with the top supermodels in the world, was in the movie Pret-A-Porter and made pieces of costuming/fashion like this.
And then he stopped making fashion.
Now his Jewelry and Perfume collection are the only things to be found. However every once in a while a semi-retired genius will come out of his shell to create. ‘Dark Knight’ snagged Mugler who styled Anne as Selena Kyle’s outfits. HIS style came out looking like this;
I am pleased to see that Thierry has not lost his touch in creating magnificence. Sexy, scintillating, cat-like and very not Anne Hathaway this is magnificent. I only hope someone see’s this and sticks it in a high fashion magazine (Vogue Italia I’m talking to you).
Bravo! Ce Magnifique Monsieur Mugler. You just saved my opinion of the Dark Knight and Anne Hathaway as a model.
Diva, Goddess and Fashion Designer Kami Shade. Recently gracing the pages of W Magazine (featuring her black one piece swimsuit) she is an emerging designer with an amazing presence and defining eye. She brings swaths of sequined material to life in a unique way that is both wicked and fun. More importantly totally wearable.
I was recently invited to attend a private and exclusive, invite-only show at Eden Hollywood. Eden Hollywood if you have not been is VERY exclusive. Being an SBE venue gives it an edge that makes an interior designers dream. Add Kami Shade designs and it was an enviable evening.
Eden Hollywood Ceiling Lamps. I was trying to be arty.
Check in was at 9:30 pm. Being media means that you don’t get to waltz in anytime. I did get there early with my roomie and luckily got to see some of the girls pre-show and take a photo or two.
Can I just say they are superstar’s. Between fitting the models, getting them all in air and make up and making sure everyone was happy and organized they were a cut above the rest.
We eventually were led back into the back area/VIP lounge where 2 of Kami’s assistants were working with the models.
While they took care of technical issues, i.e. the girls and I got to socialize a bit. The people working with Kami are astounding and generally greatly amusing….in a good way of course.
I also got to goof with some of the models.
Not all models are brainless and stuck up. In fact contrary to most of the (jealous) populations belief they are ridiculous and fun like the rest of us. (I hear the echo of a ‘Just Like Us’ article here)
UNLESS, they are working. Hair and make up is a must for runway so sit still….
Because if you move you could lose an eye darlings.
After make-up the back bathroom becomes full of girls trying out fits for best fit and Kami’s assistant were super stars while Kami worked with SBE on getting the runway show ready.
She was also super sweet about letting me take a full Diva picture of her. Talented and sexy!
I have to tell you it is incredibly tempting to jump in and help, or try on the clothes. But being a professional I managed to just hang out and not steal clothes like a backstage thief with the bombshells wearing Kami Shade and enjoy the evening instead.
It is interesting to watch the havoc at a runway show. It goes from social hour to run, jump and shake a tail feather. The havoc is amazing and the energy crackles backstage. It is straight 0 to 200 mph and there is no way not to love the chaos. It’s just pure fashion at it’s best.
I have to apologize to Kami for not covering her complete show as there was an issue with SBE club security not letting me out to view what I was covering. However I do have to thank David Bever at for the photos from the runway. They are fabulous.
I present the talented Kami Shade’s Runway show presented by W Magazine & David Bever.

The best pat of Kami Shade’s fashion show for me though was seeing that she gives back. After the show Kami let the girls take a piece home. A real rarity for a designer and the best way to pay the models back for their hard work. And it was a fray!
Cat fighting models trying to claim the outfits.
Kami Shade deserves major props. Not just for creating a line for women that are gorgeous, sexy with lines that define the body perfectly, but for all her hard work.
Kami Shade is indeed an emerging artist to watch, admire and buy from. Her work is powerful, trendy and grabs the eye. She does make clothing custom, so if you think ‘it won’t fit’, it will. She’s talented like that.
An exhausted Kami Shade and Diva D closed out the night with some high fashion looks.
Well played Kami Shade. I look forward to future shows and seeing you rise to the top
As August set’s in, it is time to start shopping for your fabulous and very luxe wardrobe. As I spoke of before fur covered everything is all the rage and DKNY has already released its first set of ‘hair’ inspired accessories. Add ‘Apocalypse Now’ weather in New York City and winter is looking extra tough.
The question raises well-groomed eyebrows everywhere. What to do, and where to shop?
Idra Alta Moda darling!
I know I have sung their praises before. Now that I have met and spoken with the owner, Jessica Soifer, I am in LOVE. This company devastates me, along with their jackets, capes, ear muffs, etc.
Feeling the need for classy, sexy, furry? You can even shop for your hunny with their MENSWEAR LINE (gasp)! Check out their Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook;
Like what you see? So do I!
I am literally ‘In Love’. That last jacket WILL be mine.
I love these. All these looks are classically inspired and can be worn with anything. A night at the Met or heading out to get drunk with drag queens.
For a truly metropolitan and/or continental look these sleek jackets are perfect for LA/NY/Paris. Too sleek and sexy for words is the well named, ‘Collezione’ by Idra Alta Moda.
I am terribly sorry if the gorgeous, fabulous and well-dressed men are feeling left out. I haven’t been blogging men’s fashion. Thank goodness for small and well thought out fashion collections, Idra Alta Moda has you covered.
For the man who dresses better than I do.
Last but hardly least Idra Alta Moda do custom wear as well as accessories.What about this fierce purse?! I am adding this to my collection for winter.
Idra Alta Moda is indeed a collection to watch and covet.
They are taking over the Fall/Winter 2012 fashion fur/leather scene. If you have met the owner, possibly the world. (Word is she is secretly in cahoots with Adolfo Sanchez in LA and a Russian designer who makes out-of-this-world clothing. More on that later)
If you have never been to an amazing SBE Event, Party, Hotel, Restaurant or Club, here is your chance. Tomorrow night W Magazine presents the beautiful and talented,
Kami Shade Fashion Show at Eden Hollywood
I WILL be covering this event, tablet in hand. There will be photos, video, sights and sounds from Kami’s gorgeous models, the runway and of course pretty party people.
There is still time to RSVP and or grab a table for Bottle Service. Numbers are listed above. See you there!!
Oh Vogue Russia, I understand we are imperfect people living in an imperfect world. Often we have bad days, or even botched photo spreads, but this….well there are no words.
NYET! Say it isn’t so. I can see how one might pose oddly and crop out and over extended arm but this is inexcusable. Where the heck is her freeking arm? Did it take a sick day? Is it on another page? Is she missing and arm and has a very unique and pretty manicured hand growing out of her head? No.
Vogue Russia just killed there August 2012 issue. As the number one producer of hot runway girls this is unacceptable. I hope they fire who ever did this. Vogue Russia, get it together. You are too good for this.
Even your pretty letters won’t fool us this time. Bring back the arm! Vogue standards demand it.
I love the fashion industry because we get to use the hottest men/women in the world for steamy spreads and call it work.
Ladies and Gentlemen I bring you something titillating. Welcome to the hottest issue of W Magazine this year. Taking Michael Fassbender (mmmm…Fassbender) and the Goddess known as Charlize Theron to the limit for the masses.
W Magazine’s Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender: Smash of the Titans editorial.
This has to be the hottest 69 in 2012. I have to give it to W, they know how to bring the sexy. Do we care about the clothes? Hardly. This has to be one for the history books.
The rest of the spread can be seen below;
Go to it W. We’re proud to see you making leaps and bounds in fashion, editorial and the celeb realm. Hot, sexy, and couture. You nailed it.
Everyone one know ‘The Hampton’s’ are THE premiere spot for vacationing and being fabulous on the East Coast during summer. It’s a must have on your list of places to stay.
Don’t have a house there, get a time share. Don’t have a time share? Go for a day trip and act like you do. Can’t act that bourgeois, run for your life. A very well dressed lynch mob is coming for you with pitchforks by Eddie Bauer.
Besides elegant dinner parties, walks on the beach and enjoying a relaxing spot what else is there to do. Well, hunny when the rich get bored, they go shopping.
Luckily we are bringing you a little International talent in the design department with Adolfo Sanchez Designs;
AND Idra Alta Moda (one of NY’s top furriers);
They are being presented by a great cause, The Risa Pulver Project.
I ADORE ethical shopping. It always feel’s better knowing I am supporting a good cause. Also featured are vendors Glen Arthur and Love and Luck Jewelry.
From Pret-A-Porter to cute and kitsch, there will be something for everyone. Grab your nearest and dearest Diva and go down and experience the beauty first hand.
What you are going to miss this? No problem. Check out more Adolfo Sanchez Designs here;
We all know Karl Lagerfeld is a genius. He is indeed breaking boundaries in both Fashion AND Marketing.
The first designer ever to use short films/video as a marketing tool in a major fashion house. Not just video but literal short films. He tells stories and make you forget, for just one minute, hot models dressed in head to toe Dior are selling you a product.
Here is his latest triumph, a music video, found in the pages of my Vanity Fair, ‘Secret Garden-Versailles’.
These movies are ethereal, surreal and unique. Unkle Karl is not just a genius, but a mad genius.
Gucci has followed suit with a new style of bringing the runway out of the pages of Vogue, W Mag, Bazaar as well. A brilliant move, this SS 2012, they too presented a multi-media concept with their ‘Gucci Guilty’ campaign. Although it’s brought in more of a traditional advert format they brought one thing Dior Doesn’t have to the table. Chris Evan’s.
Yummy!
Who is next to follow suit? Whoever it is I think they are smarter than the average multi-million dollar fashion house.
For style and giggles, Here is ‘The tale of a Fairy’, by Karl Lagerfeld with Freja Beja.
