As the weekend draws near I realize how AMPED I am to ditch all you faithful readers and head off on my first vacation in 4 years. Yeah I am sure you think us bloggers are living non stop excitement and jet setting, but reality is we work our tiny heiny’s off. And I will be working in Vegas styling a secret shoot.
But it IS Vegas. What happens there during the end of Magic Fashion Market week, and a bunch of fashion people? Well, check my Instagram @HeathyrWolfe. Not everything that happens in Vegas stays, some ends up on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I like to share my debauchery.
With my fantastic weekend coming up, I can’t find a funkier space adventure that motivates me quite like this video. Here’s Ariana Grande with ‘Break Free’ featuring the madness that is Zedd.
For those of you not rocking Vegas, enjoy Burning Man!
LA at a glance seems vapid at best. Movie stars with purse dogs, overly blond athletic men and women, juice bars and cleanses, power luncheons and a cadre of meandering, very lost tourists. One would never think that there is a massive and newly booming fashion industry and art collective in the land of twinkling stars and tinsel.
With the established Style Fashion week twice a year, the celebrity clientele, the art/runway shows, and Santee fashion district in DTLA, it’s beyond booming, it’s a massive industry on the West Coast demanding attention. Showcasing names like Rodarte, Band of Outsiders, Betsey Johnson, Rebecca Minkoff LA, and James Perse has brought an influx of ex-NY artists and designers to the palm dotted coast.
Being a stylist and writer leads you unbelievable places and doing surreal things. One of these was to the heart of Bohemian Society’s headquarters, and Victor Wilde’s kitchen. I had spoken with his amazing PR people on the phone, and they agreed to do a clothing pull for a charity shoot I was working on. Then they suggested I interview Victor Wilde, the creative director and designer of The Bohemian Society, while I was there.
Never look a gift horse in the mouth, instead run with it.
Victor Wilde is the head fashion designer of The Bohemian Society. The Bohemian Society in the last 10 years, boasts a celebrity clientele, dressing supermodels and musicians and is distributed in several high-end Los Angeles boutiques, and worldwide through ASOS.
In his downtown LA loft, you can see his influences. Modern art, recycled and eco sustainable materials, with a heavy Japanese influence. When I asked about it, he admitted he’d, “been to Japan 7 times.” Being a traveler was the key to bonding with Victor. We talked about travel, the international influences on design, and I asked about his background fashion.
Victor Wilde grew up in a fast paced NYC in Brooklyn. “Growing up East Coast you have to be cool.” In Brooklyn that is no small feat. “Kids judge you by what you wear, how you look”, he said, and you have to ‘grow some balls’ quickly. Victor had a better eye than most at a young age for fashion, and in Jr. High School he was voted best dressed. Not bad for a young man barely emerging from his adolescence.
Being young and fashionable was not the only reason Victor progressed in his field. “People said I should to be in fashion. I started dating a model; she was working for one of the biggest wholesale/retailers at the time. People would come in to the store, and she would buy their clothes and sell them, and I thought, I can do better than that. I thought of The Bohemian Society.”
Unlike most designers Victor had no fashion or design background. He admitted, “I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I started creating t-shirts, and within two weeks, she was showing my clothes in the window.”
Yet, Victor Wilde is an artist and his true love is artistic performance. I asked about the part of fashion he loved most and what he was moving towards. ‘(I love) the showiness, and the performance part of it.” His latest projects include working with the insanely talented Swedish film maker Jonas Akerlund, and albino supermodel Shaun Ross (Lana Del Rey’s ‘Tropico’, Katy Perry’s ET), on the ‘Beauty Defined’ project.
Shaun Ross in Bohemian Society
In Akerlund’s last installment, the video explains how unique difference is always right, and others degrading natural and odd beauty were wrong. Supermodel Shaun Ross narrative is about his beauty while visually Ross parades through a throng of tourists on Hollywood blvd., in Bohemian Society couture.
This is a theme in Victor’s continuing vision for The Bohemian Society as well. With the fashion industry being a multimedia animal, this creates the perfect platform for Victor Wilde to create and produce his art. A vision of showing & creating, raw beauty.
Timur and the Dime Museum in Bohemian Society
“My next collection will be highly based on interviews with people without any clothes. I paused, ”That’s actually really brilliant. I mean if you are going to get the bare truth…”.
Part of that is Victor’s choice to use and re-use eco-sustainable good’s. I noticed that the loft is decorated with vintage pieces of clothing, art and random finds. His Spring/Summer 2014 collection was made primarily out of the most amazing, ethereal looking WWII parachute material. How did it start and why use it?
“The recycled stuff I couldn’t afford stuff so my girlfriend and I would go out and steal vintage clothing and remake it”. I went to college in North Carolina and then moved to NY and became and performance artist. He explained he used what he had around him in art and design.
I asked if being eco-friendly was an important ‘part of his personality’. “Yes, it reflects part of who I am. I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life by choice. As child I refused to eat meat. My Mom actually used to chase me around the kitchen with chicken and beef”. Being an ex-East Coaster myself, there was much discussion about the horrors of East Coast unhealthy living.
As we speak more, he admits his most recent project was costuming an opera. Not the traditional kind of course, but a rock opera. “I was there for about a week. It played at a festival so it played only one day. “Really?”, I ask, “Yes, it was in Miami, but next year it’s in Brooklyn.”
His current collection for The Bohemian Society’s Fall/Winter collection 2014? “It’s named Wild at Heart. It’s Victor Wilde. A reflection of me, influenced by the Movie (“Wild at Heart” by David Lynch) and it’s sexy, and androgynous. “
Androgyny brings to mind Bowie immediately and we talk over coffee about that, music, Tim Curry and more art. As far as I can tell, Victor Wilde is an artist, a designer, a costumer, a performer and a multimedia mad genius.
When I asked what he wanted to work on, “Anything that interests me”.
It seems with all of his interests, world domination may not be out of the picture.

One of the few celebrities a la songstress I am enjoying these days is Rihanna. She has been up, down, fought the nipple censorship on Instagram and got past the foolishness that was Chris Brown. She has made waves in Fashion, both good and bad and then good again. She is pretty much done more in her early twenties than most achieve in lifetime and is bold as F**K.
Riri’s latest amazing campaign with MAC VIVA GLAM is just that.
Not only does she look stunning and the subtext of an all green Rihanna MAC Viva Glam Campaign, is not lost on us (4:20 much?). It screams Rihanna, being over the top, without looking too Nicki Minaj. This collaboration truly is proving that Rihanna is full of win, and knows how to work it like no other bitch in the industry (Except Queen B).
As awesome as Rihanna is working it, let’s get back to the VIVA GLAM make up for a second.

I know I have been missing in action. But while you were all snuggled into your beds by the fireplace I was braving LAFW in 6 inch heels. Although I left with a terrible injury (damn those heels), it was all worth it.
Thanks to a wonderful meeting of minds, Pre and Post LAFW, I’ve been booked as guest judge with the effervescent talent known as Dom Streater. If you aren’t familiar with the crazy talent of Dom Streater she was the winner of Project Runway, Season 12.
Here’s the best part, we’ll be judging 10 contestants showing their designs on the runway and give $1,000 to the winner.
After lot’s of coughing, Nyquil and a million vitamins I have beat H1N1. Just in time too. NYFW invites are coming in, shows are lining up for LAFW and I need to get back to business in a big way.
SO here’s the deet’s for today’s too fab fashion event in LA.
In Beverly Hills (of course) DKNY is having a trunk show at the ever lovely shopping hot spot, Neiman Marcus of Beverly Hills. It’s going all day until 5pm PST so if you have car, and will travel, travel here;
Not only do you get to shop the new SS 2014 line but you can meet someone amazing who makes it happen FROM DKNY, the amazing Shirley Warren. This is a great chance to hob nob, network, shop and later do the rodeo drive luncheon.
So what are you waiting for? A formal invite. You have one! No go!
After seeing articles in the Huffpost, and spread across Facebook like some mad Miley disease I finally gave in, and took a look at Marc Jacobs SS 2014 Campaign. I expected to frankly, HATE it. I am over Miley Cyrus, here twerking, her tongue, and her goddam wrecking ball. I don’t really want to see her naked and smoking a blunt. That is why this totally took me by surprise;
I now believe in God. Or that God believes in Marc Jacobs.
This is astounding. Androgynous, and utterly beautiful. It shows a Miley Cyrus that is deep, genuine and stunning. Who knew?
When I got the actual campaign in my inbox and understood completely. Marc Jacobs has been working with Miley Cyrus on the skin cancer campaign. Featuring a bevy of nude celebs, as well as Cyrus. The campaign slogan is ‘Love the skin you’re in’ and the tee’s are racy, sexy and fun.
When Marc decided to feature Miley is his editorial campaign it came as no surprise. However, this is truly is. This is Marc Jacobs making art.
It was for WWD Magazine! And it is a stunning editorial. He captured his line in spades. No wonder this came out as stunning art. I really have to say that the full photo has such intensity it reminds me why I am in the business.
Because Fashion is art. And if you cannot see the art in fashion, you probably should not be in it. And yes, you can quote me on that.
Let it be said and very much known that Meryl Streep is a witty and brilliant Goddess who is smarter than 3/4 of this planet. She has a giant heart that Mother Theresa (if she were alive) would honor. Did I mention she is a fearless intelligent woman as well?
Normally I save this kind of idol talk for people like David Bowie, or one of the elite supermodels who ruled the catwalk for over 10 years. Perhaps even Unkle Karl Lagerfeld.
At some point while I was running a fever and coughing my brains out, Meryl Streep shadowed all of them with her magnificence. How? By presenting and honoring Emma Thompson(a brilliant, classic actress) with the ‘Best Actress’ award at The National Board of Review Awards last night. And calling out the racist, evil, bigot, known as Walt Disney.
The rant is I admit, heavy reading but I thought you would enjoy it on this dreary cold Tuesday (ok it’s 66 F out in CA). Thanks to The Vulture for posting the whole damn thing. And YES, it’s worth the five minutes it takes to go over this.
Happy Reading!
[Streep walks on stage wearing one of the “Prize Winner” hats fromNebraska, which had been scattered on the tables as promo items]
What? Oh? Oh. Okay. [Takes off hat]
I’m not the prize winner. It’s so weird! This is a very late night, and we have Spike Jonze — twice — coming up, so I want to say to you, I have a short, sweet, kind of funny version of this tribute to Emma Thompson, and I have the long, bitter, more truthful version, so I would like a vote — and I’m serious! I’m happy to do just the short one. I’d love to do the long one.
[Lots of applause, one audience member hollers, “Go for it!”] Anybody want to leave? Go now. I guess that’s the long one.
Some of [Walt Disney’s] associates reported that Walt Disney didn’t really like women. Ward Kimball, who was one of his chief animators, one of the original “Nine Old Men,” creator of the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, Jiminy Cricket, said of Disney, “He didn’t trust women, or cats.” And there is a piece of received wisdom that says that the most creative people are often odd, or irritating, eccentric, damaged, difficult. That along with enormous creativity comes certain deficits in humanity, or decency. We are familiar with this trope in our business. Mozart, Van Gogh, Tarantino, Eminem … Ezra Pound said, “I have not met anyone worth a damn who was not irascible.” Well, I have — Emma Thompson.
Not only is she not irascible, she’s practically a saint. There’s something so consoling about that old trope, but Emma makes you want to kill yourself because she’s a beautiful artist, she’s a writer, she’s a thinker, she’s a living, acting conscience. Emma considers carefully what the fuck she is putting out into the culture! Emma thinks, “Is this helpful?” Not, “Will it build my brand?” Not, “Will it give me billions?” Not, “Does this express me? Me! Me! My unique and fabulous self, into all eternity, in every universe, for all time!” That’s a phrase from my Disney contract. I’m serious! “Will I get a sequel out of it, or a boat? Or a perfume contract?”
Ezra Pound said, “I have not met anyone worth a damn who was not irascible.” Though he would say that because he was supposedly a hideous anti-Semite. But his poetry redeems his soul. Disney, who brought joy, arguably, to billions of people, was perhaps … or had some racist proclivities. He formed and supported an anti-Semitic industry lobbying group. And he was certainly, on the evidence of his company’s policies, a gender bigot.
Here’s a letter from 1938, stating his company’s policy to a young woman named Mary Ford of Arkansas, who had made application to Disney for the training program in cartooning. And I’m going to read it here in Emma’s tribute, because I know it will tickle our honoree, as she’s also a rabid man-eating feminist like me!
“Dear Miss Ford, your letter of recent date has been received in the inking and painting department for reply. Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that task is performed entirely by young men. For this reason, girls are not considered for the training school. The only work open to women consists of tracing the characters on clear celluloid sheets with India ink, and then, filling in the tracing on the reverse side with paint according to directions.”
When I saw the film, I could just imagine Walt Disney’s chagrin at having to cultivate P.L. Travers’ favor for the 20 years that it took to secure the rights to her work. It must have killed him to encounter a woman, an equally disdainful and superior creature, a person dismissive of his own considerable gifts and prodigious output and imagination. But when we sit in our relative positions of importance and mutual suspicion, and we cast judgment on each other’s work, we’re bound to make small mistakes and misconstrue each other’s motives.
Which brings me to awards season. Which is really ridiculous. We have made so many beautiful movies this year, and to single out one seems unfair. And yet, it’s a great celebration, and I’m so proud to be here, in this group of artists. Nobody can swash buckle the quick-witted riposte like Emma Thompson. She’s a writer. A real writer. And she has a writer’s relish for the well-chosen word. But some of the most sublime moments in Saving Mr. Banks are completely wordless. They live in the transitions, where P.L. traverses from her public face to her private space. I’m talking about her relentlessness when she has her verbal dim sum, and then it moves to the relaxation of her brow, when she retreats into the past. It’s her stillness. Her attentiveness to her younger self. Her perfect alive-ness. Her girlish alertness. These are qualities that Emma has, as a person. She has real access to her own tenderness, and it’s one of the most disarming things about her. She works like a stevedore, she drinks like a bloke, and she’s smart and crack and she can be withering in a smack-down of wits, but she leads with her heart. And she knows nothing is more funny than earnestness.
So now, “An Ode to Emma, Or What Emma is Owed”:
We think the Brits are brittle, they think that we are mush
They are more sentimental, though we do tend to gush
Volcanoes of emotion concealed beneath that lip
Where we are prone to guzzle, they tip the cup and sip
But when eruption bubbles from nowhere near the brain
It’s seismic, granite crumbles, the heart overflows like rain
Like lava, all that feeling melts down like Oscar gold
And Emma leaves us reeling, a knockout, truth be told
Ladies and gentlemen, the entirely splendid Emma Thompson.
Damn. I want to be Meryl Streep’s best friend after that. After spending that much time hailing up Emma Thompson, I can’t help but absolutely, and madly, fall in love with the amazing person Meryl Streep is and has become.
Here’s to Emma Thompson for her amazing ability she has to effect others so deeply, and here’s to Meryl Streep for being the most aware and intelligent actress in Hollyweird.
I am proud to say that since it’s inception two years ago, you all have made Heathyr Wolfe.com a raging success! I have everyone one of you dedicated, amazing and slightly twisted readers to thank. Being able to write helps but I couldn’t do it without you all!
Thanks again for a great year and here’s too much, much, more in 2014!

Here’s an excerpt:
Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 67,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Bespokei/biˈspoʊk/ is a British English word that means a clothing item made to a buyer’s specification (personalised or tailored). While the term historically is applied to only men’s tailoredclothing, it now generally includes footwear and other apparel, implying measurement and fitting.
Welcome to the world of House of Eleven. A bespoke clothing line that has not only won my heart, but is now No. 1 on my Xmas shopping list.
Started by the Silva Twins, Darcey and Stacey, around 2 years ago, this line has coming out as a ‘cut’ above the rest. They are winning over the fashion industry at large, but also, a HUGE celebrity clientele.
Me and the Twins courtesy the fabulous Michael Bezjian/WireImage
The event was at the historic downtown LA bar/club, The Falls. When I arrived it was already packed. So much for being fashionably late.
The crowd included everyone from local reality stars, to buyers, fashion TV and agency photographers. Some of the admirers and celebrities present were Angie Everhart, Vianey Arana(Miss California Latina)and Apollonia Kotero. Caroline D’Amore showed up earlier and I missed her. She is the runway model who notoriously flipped off reality trash Scott Disick and a Jenner, for being drunk and disorderly in the front row of a runway she was walking recently. Besides being gorgeous, I love her for that, and wish I could have told her so.
I caught Jennifer Jimenez, RHOBH friend of Brandi Glanville, with my cell totally by accident.
Caught off guard, I see you Ms. Jimenez!
However the reason I go to these is not the celeb heavy crowd. That is an easy draw in LA but I truly came for the clothes.
House of Eleven is beyond what I hoped. The Spring/Summer 2014 collection consists over piece’s with breathable leather in creams, grays, blacks, and some really nice splashes of coral pink. Everything is well-stitched, tasteful with an edge, includes sexy and playful leather trim and made for all body types. The thought of wearing leather during a hot day or night in Los Angeles seems unbearable. Yet, looking at the make of the design you see House of 11 has made it light and breathable, without sacrificing design.
SS 2014 Leather and Cotton long sleeve
I did get to corner the fabulous twins, Darcey and Stacey Silva, for a moment to grill them about the their line. Turns out this line is a true LA story.
Born and raised here in LA, they began House of Eleven just a little under two years ago.
After only three fashion seasons, they are bi-coastal, with boutiques in LA and NY. I am beyond impressed to find out have incredible backing by; fabulous celebrity clientele, international recognition, work with amazing PR representation and are busy, busy, busy.
Here’s where the story brings the ‘awwwz’. They are single, hard-working moms, with NO previous design/seamstress experience, and are completely self-taught. With incredible designs that are double stitched, bespoke with perfect designs(leather can buckle and get wavy if seams are done badly) and lines for Women, Men and Children, you have to wonder how they do it.
Obviously, quite well.
After talking to Darcey and Stacey they handed me a lovely packaged ‘Hof11’ gift box with their cards. Way to sway this blogger ladies. I love gifts!
Thank you ladies. You are amazing.
I met one of the CEO’s, Michael and we talked business,’Hof11′ background, and how badly I wanted his ‘Hof11’ shirt. Last, but never least, I was given a drink and double kiss from my fav PR peep’s at Genevieve/HSMPR. If you haven’t heard of them you should. They are responsible for creating events for clients like VOGUE/CFDA FASHION FUND Finalist Presentation, Philanthropic Society Los Angeles’ (PSLA) 4th annual Autumn Party with Stella McCartney, and of course presenting these two bombshell designers from House of Eleven SS 2014 collection.
I have to thank them for putting on an amazing event and introducing me to the talented Silva twins. And House of Eleven my newest addition to my wardrobe this spring/summer.
Are you ready to shop and hit up House of Eleven? Click the picture below and head over. Christmas IS right around. Happy Shopping!

I make no excuses, nor will I ever lie about my total and complete dedication to the House of McQueen. There is virtually nothing in their collections I do not covet.
The house of McQueen just released a new scarf collection. The collection features a collaboration with iconic artist Damien Hirst. Hirst’s career reigned supreme in the UK in 90s and continues to impress, and be iconic, in the art scene.
The new collection features a nature theme with symmetrical designs in the classic McQueen skull motif. Add the effervescent talent of Sølve Sundsbø who shot the collection AND directed an editorial video for the scarves. He is by far one of the great’s in the industry who constantly produces amazing photography. I am impressed with Burton, of the House of McQueen, to tap such amazing talent.
With such beautiful representation, I am in complete submission, and awe, of this collection.
This looks like the beginning of the end for Blackberry .
Blackberry was originally a tech market giant, hailed as the least hackable cell phone with the highest security. Used by international leaders and high-powered CEO’s it seems they may become another obsolete piece of machinery. Recently Blackberry has fallen into the big nasty pot of economic crisis. According to BBC News, they are cutting 40% (or more) of their international job force. That equals approximately 4,500 jobs that will be cut creating a loss of almost $100 million dollars.
According to BBC News;
It also anticipates a loss of as much as $995m (£621m) when it reports its second-quarter earnings next week.
Shares plummeted 20% after the announcement.
In a time when the global economy is already collapsing this looks like it might be the end of Blackberry. Time to switch over to DROID or iPhone? We think so. What are you thoughts?
Lady Gaga seem’s to have a beef with the almighty fashion gossip queen known as Perez Hilton. Perez (legally known as Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.) is trying to move into her posh NYC building and she is having none of it. Stefani, er-Gaga see’s this as a stalker move and called Perez out on twitter of all places.
It could be a clashing of ego’s. Both of them think they are Cher or Barabara Streisand on the diva scale. I would call it just a bitch fight. This DOES look like a case of stalking for publicity, with a side of stupid.
What me worry? (photo courtesy of NYTimes.com)
Here’s where it got nasty.
Perez Hilton sent her a rather nasty and threatening text/image of her to her cell, after her hip accident. Lady Gaga’s twitter said;
Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me.
Oooo. Bad Form Mario. We all know he makes a living off kissing and dissing but that is just uncalled for.
What ever happened to this?
Lighten up on the hate Perez.
Even if Gaga is the 21st century diva, no one deserves that kind of nasty. Time to rethink that move.
Perez needs to stop with the dis, and start kissing celebrity ass again. We liked him much better that way.
