Progress on the Fashion Front – Vogue Thailand Hires it’s First Male Editor-in-Chief

Vogue. Addiction. The bible. However you want to label it, it’s name alone comes with a hefty reputation.

I am pleased to see that Vogue Thailand is living up to that rep, by hiring the first male Editor-in-Chief, Kullawit Laosuksri. First male editor for Vogue, ever. In the world.

Starting things off with a bang Kullawit decided commission Phillip Treacy, extraordinary haberdasher to the fashion elite (oh and the Gaga) to help him with the cover. According to Nation’s interview with the pint-sized super editor;

For the Thai edition, we also want to present Thai women’s cheerful attitude and lifestyle. For the first issue we wanted a chada [the traditional tall coronet], which is internationally recognised and has a sophisticated design. We searched the archives of the master of the craft, Chakrabhan Posayakrit, and then asked Phillip Treacy, a world-renowned maker of headdresses, to create a chada we could display on our cover.

Bravo! excellent start. Unfortunately Thai Vogue is working with the smallest budget out of all the Vogue magazine’s in the world. If this is what Vogue Thai is starting at the gate with I may have to pick up an issue to support. I do have faith that the smallest are the fiercest and can make something out of nothing. Cough…I speak from experience.

Here is hoping that Kullawit is knowledgeable and ambidextrous as an editor. Also that there are some damn good advertisers. Vogue lives off that money!

After writing my ass off for years, some college courses in a little thing Journalism and too much experience I am moving from here to the pages of FastLane Magazine as the Senior Men’s Fashion Editor! Yes it deserves an exclamation point. I’m proud of it, dammit.

What does that mean for HeathyrWolfe.com? A whole lotta double time. I will be writing a column on Men’s Fashion, working on the magazine online and IN PRINT AND writing for HeathyrWolfe.com. Sure it sounds like a lot, but this is why god invented caffeine and red bull.

Kanye’s Crystal Mask by Maison Martin Margiela. & Other Fashion Faux Pas #Concert #Costume #WTF

So many music performer’s today want to bring an intense shock value to the stage. Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and even Justin Bieber tries to up the fashion freak. Many times it work and other times it’s just a fashion faux pas.

Enter Kanye.

In recent shows Kanye has preferred kilt to pants and wearing 3x shirts with shutter shades. Hey, even made them a thing. Now, Kanye is just grasping. His newest ‘rock the shocker’ outfit showed up on his current tour and we just don’t know what the HELL he was thinking.

He was thinking he is fashionable. The mask is made by Maison Martin Margiela. And it is a couture piece.  And it was a FAIL.

This looks good on the runway but Kanye in this masque is just…..wrong. This could have been passable. But no.

Later, after a minor costume change he came out with this crazed feather thing on his head.

Oh Kanye. I get it. You have to get bigger and badder or people won’t pay attention but THIS, is not working for ya. Time to rethink the image hunny and get back to basics.
I love Kanye’s music but him as Lady Gaga, it’s just not meant to be.

‘Meggings’, Things to Leave Behind in 2012 #Fashion #Men #Why

I think the picture above says it all.

‘Meggings’ or man leggings are one trend we would LOVE to see die in 2012. I remember a ton of hair rockers wearing them in the 80’s. The premise was being ‘over the top’ or ridiculous. And it worked. Now meggings have resurfaced, but this time they are considered a fashion statement. (God save us)

According to http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk meggings are sold at some of the top luxury brand stores and are going international;

(In the US) Uniqlo, Barneys and Nordstrom are selling tights for men.

The bad news is they are on their way to Britain: Uniqlo is already selling them on its British website, and their success in New York is seen as an indication they will also prove popular here. (the UK)

Perhaps some of my skinnier-than-thou gays could work that style, or a REALLY hot metro sexual man. GQ boys can get away with anything.

Man leggings….meggings? I think there is a line you can cross with good taste and this it.

Russell Brand wore them but did it as a joke. Ya know, that funny ha-ha thing. And Justin Bieber has the fashion sense of a Disney kid. Ergo, what ever wardrobe gives him he wears. The Telegraph UK sites Lenny Kravitz wearing them, however he reeks of sex. He can pull of anything.

I hope to say good-bye to meggings this new years. Perhaps I will burn one in effigy and pray to the gods. Lets let meggings die in 2012 and skinny jeans reign free.

David Beckham Leaves LA Galaxy, Becomes Face of Breitling

We are terribly sad to see David Beckham go in LA. His last game with L.A. Galaxy will be for the MLS Cup. After that where will he go? Is Beckham settling down with his fab wifey and kids?!

Of course not.

Leighton Meester Works Flaunt Magazine Like #thesex

It’s a slow news day. Hostess, COPS and Britney Spears are all cancelled in one way or another. Everyone in the grand ol US of A is prepping houses and food for Thank-turkey, and no one is acting trashy enough to make the news. Except the Kardashians. They are always trashy, so that isn’t news.

So instead of trying to pry news from the net with the jaws of death I found Leighton Meester actually looking sexy. That of course is because she is in one of my favorite publications, Flaunt Magazine.

Flaunt Magazine has the amazing ability to make anything and anyone look gorgeous. Between amazing shoots and heavy photoshopping they always win. This also conforms one of my favorite fashion trends of winter, goat hair. We are talking leather and goat hair, jackets, boots and purses are ON trend. Or at least the geniuses (no sarcasm) over at Flaunt think so.

Hurricane Sandy has unfortunately, in a very real way, destroyed and crippled much of NYC. As the National Guard has been sent out to save the day, seems they needed saving.

As the 69th Infantry (yes that is a real number)National Guard powered up to save lives Monday, their power went down.

Not so far away Victoria’s Secret had 8 generators helping them get ready for their infamous bedazzled, sparkling boobies of 2012, fashion show. According to my darlings over at the Wired Magazine;

According to Wired, the troops called up the Victoria’s Secret camp Tuesday morning, and, by 7pm that night, the armory was powered and ready to go.

“We were dead in the water until Victoria’s Secret showed up,” Capt. Brendan Gendron, the Regiment’s operations officer, told Wired.

How about that for saving the world? Thanks to Victoria’s Secret, they had power, warmth, elevators and all around warm fuzzy feelings towards boobies.

According to the Huff Post Online, Victoria’s Secret took their NYC/National Guard love even further,

 Victoria’s Secret came to the rescue yet again. This time, they helped the troops and the Federal Emergency Management Agency by providing a forklift that would be used to efficiently distribute food.

Awww, gosh darnit. Only in the US would boobies save a hurricane ravaged city AND the National Guard with extra power and heavy machinery. That’s too touching.

This is better than a basket full of puppies. I love muh country.

Katy Perry Rocks the Obama Vote Fashionably (Pic/Video)

Katy Perry is a constant surprise. Whether she decides to dress up in cupcakes dresses with a blue wig, or boho chic with her new hunny John Mayer she keeps us guessing. This time she is rocking the vote, hardcore.
Katy rocked her vote last night in Nevada to a crowd of 13,000 voters wearing a sexy ballot dress at a Obama at rally last night.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Katy clearly marked her dress as a vote for Obama/Biden and urged the crowd to vote early. Perry even threatened to ‘come and get you’ to the crowd if they didn’t vote. Damn Katy, careful how you rock that vote. We don’t need a ghetto fight. Romany already got a smack down in the last Presidential debate.

President Obama came out after the Perry and said he was ‘so grateful for her unbelievable performance’.

I am a Michael Antonio Shoes fan girl. For a long time I have been wearing, toting and secretly adoring their shoes. I love the style, grace, comfort and sexy they bring to my petite feet. Quite possibly, I dream of Michael Antonio shoes, because they are not only wonderful to wear but a late night fantasy (shhh it’s my dirty little secret).

Maggie Barry is a creative genius, bringing imagination to life. Her clothing has been worn by stars who walk on air and want art in fashion as much as she does. She created Cher’s famous leather thong outfit from her ‘Turn Back Time’ video and she works, and plays with such famous names as Lady Gaga, Miss J. Alexander (ANTM) and uses singer and model Morganne Picard as her spokesmodel for her brand.

LA Fashion Week on Monday, October 15th was a visual collaboration brought together by both of these artists & designers to create a step away from traditional fashion to bring Fashion fusion/footwear to life for Maggie Barry and Michael Antonio’s SS 2013 show in downtown’s nightspot, Exchange LA.

This brought designers, stylists, fashionistas, actors, actresses, fashion/event photographer, trend watchers and the artistic diva’s of the night out.

I ran into Eric of Prep Jerks whose business as a stylist and fashion forward man is booming. Keep an eye on him here http://www.prepjerks.com. He’s got a taste for business, design and fashion that is unparalleled. Go Prep Jerks!

The collection was stunning, eclectic, bright, beautiful, unique and I loved every moment. I ran into friends (Vikki Lizzie, Sabrini Paridisi) saw a freak chic ladies from acting (Bai Ling, Phoebe Price) and loved the sleek futuristic runway clothing and shoes. From the flash to atmospheric after party, this event was a win/win.

The show tapped into an amazing visual of light with a cross of adult animation come to life. Think Aeon Flux done right. I have to commend and recommend checking out Maggie Barry for those who haven’t seen her art and fashion. The woman is beyond a visionary.

Heading towards Five million seven hundred thousand dollars this dress makes the VIP crowd in Dubai shake in their shoes. Wingham states it took 6 months to hand sew every little diamond and design this diamond darling. Her inspiration and thought’s for this pricey dress?

Beautiful, talented, and often killed by marauding arrows, Jennifer Lawrence is a woman of many talents. Not only that but recently she graced the cover of W Magazine black swan style.


With freshly dyed locks, she is an absolute stunner in these photos.

Despite the fact half the birds in the world are running around nude after this photo shoot I ADORE this. She has finally broken out of her pudgy little girl stage and is a stunner. PETA be damned, this feather spread is gorgeous and she has gone full peacock baby.
