Rihanna Creates ‘Slutwear’ Line for her Debut at London Fashion Week, Jeopardizes £800,000 Contract #LFW #Rihanna #Tragic #Horror #WeedTweet

Defined as a ‘horror’ and worse Rihanna’s fashion debut at London Fashion week is a terrible fail.

‘The Daily Beast’ described her line as a ‘horror show’, and they were right!

According to the Huffpost, Rihanna was over an hour late starting. Making a crowd wait isn’t unheard of, but an hour?! Everything was badly simplistic. TV-esque, 90’s style, with one piece Baywatch Swimsuit & SJP LA Story, off-shoulder outfit with mini skirt. No flourish or trim and 97%  see-through, gauzy material fit for a romance novel cover. She was off-season, presenting in London late and not scheduled as part of ‘Official Fashion Week’.

If I were Rihanna right now, I would be hiding somewhere in a bottle of rum.

There are too many reasons Rihanna’s line was a failure but let’s highlight a few.

Involvement; Rihanna’s direct involvement with River Island creating her line, was small at best. She sent texts and emails, choosing the material samples and giving the OK on design via phone. Nothing more. Despite her sad choices in design and material, the real credit to the line goes elsewhere.

Her line created, sewn and draped by designer Philip Green. Green created the Kate Moss line ($$$$) and brought TopShop from a zero to multi-million dollar hero of retail. Philip Green’s collaboration with rock stars and models have ALWAYS created money. However Rihanna is a a fail and a flake. Why?

Professionalism: River Island directly works with ASOS, Primark, Zara and of course Topshop, all of which Rihanna could have had a stake in with a £800,000 contract. Then she jeopardized that.

Two days before her London debut Rihanna was stupidly bold enough to post pictures of a marijuana bud putting her line and professionalism at question with River Island and the fashion community. Mostly, River Island, who very much said that her tweet of green could kill her contract and to keep things under wraps about her love affair with weed. In the fashion community we don’t care what you do, but don’t let everyone know about it.

Over all the line was simple, sad and see through, I can’t even wear it to bed. The blatant 90’s rip off wear is too much for any serious designer to stomach. Rihanna gets a D- for effort, and if possible an F- for the line.

Back to the drawing board RiRi.

Runway Report – Jason Wu Starts Off New York Fashion Week With a Bang! #Hot #NYFW #FW2013 #JasonWu

As Fashion Week in New York begins Jason Wu has stepped forward as one of the first designers to define style for the Fall Winter 2013 season. Wu brought forth a collection that was monochromatic, with dashes of persimmon & varying shades of taupe on classic looks that embodied the late 60’s and 80’s. Flash has been replaced with refined style, a dash of futurism, monochromatic blocking and elongated peplum-skirted figures. Add the accessory of rich fur throughout his collection and overall his women’s collection put it’s best foot forward to start New York Fashion Week out with a proper BANG.

Check out the collection below.

Balenciaga Helm/Head Designer, Who Has It?

It has been a month since the handsome and talented Nicolas Ghesquiere stepped down as the head of Balenciaga. New prospects are finally opening up for Balenciaga and it seem’s our darling, and always cheery Alexander Wang may be the top prospect for head Designer.

With years of design experience with his own line and a fresh very modern look to his clothing I approve. Wang is known to be innovative and unique. With fashion houses being helmed with designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Betsey Johnson and Gareth Pugh you must become a celebrity as well as an entrepreneur in the 21st century.

Here’s hoping he get’s the job. We need fresh talent to keep fashion interesting!

(Thank you again to the VS Angels in Corporate who helped the National Guard in NYC with generators and forklifts, see here; https://heathyrwolfe.com/2012/11/05/victorias-secret-helping-nyc-the-national-guard-i-3-the-usa/)

Victoria’s Secret; Helping NYC & The National Guard. I <3 The USA

This was too good to pass up on blogging.

Hurricane Sandy has unfortunately, in a very real way, destroyed and crippled much of NYC. As the National Guard has been sent out to save the day, seems they needed saving.

By Victoria’s Secret.

As the 69th Infantry (yes that is a real number)National Guard powered up to save lives Monday, their power went down.

We ❤ the National Guard, 69th Infantry

Not so far away Victoria’s Secret had 8 generators helping them get ready for their infamous bedazzled, sparkling boobies of 2012, fashion show. According to my darlings over at the Wired Magazine;

According to Wired, the troops called up the Victoria’s Secret camp Tuesday morning, and, by 7pm that night, the armory was powered and ready to go.

“We were dead in the water until Victoria’s Secret showed up,” Capt. Brendan Gendron, the Regiment’s operations officer, told Wired.

How about that for saving the world? Thanks to Victoria’s Secret, they had power, warmth, elevators and all around warm fuzzy feelings towards boobies.

According to the Huff Post Online, Victoria’s Secret took their NYC/National Guard love even further,

Victoria’s Secret came to the rescue yet again. This time, they helped the troops and the Federal Emergency Management Agency by providing a forklift that would be used to efficiently distribute food.

Awww, gosh darnit. Only in the US would boobies save a hurricane ravaged city AND the National Guard with extra power and heavy machinery. That’s too touching.

This is better than a basket full of puppies. I love muh country.

Thanks Vic’s Secret, and the 69th Infantry. We Salute You!

10/15/2012 Maggie Barry & Michael Antonio Shoes Fashion Show. #LAFW #SS2013 #Stunning (photo/video)

I am a Michael Antonio Shoes fan girl. For a long time I have been wearing, toting and secretly adoring their shoes. I love the style, grace, comfort and sexy they bring to my petite feet. Quite possibly, I dream of Michael Antonio shoes, because they are not only wonderful to wear but a late night fantasy (shhh it’s my dirty little secret).

Michael Antonio Buckled Heels

Maggie Barry is a creative genius, bringing imagination to life. Her clothing has been worn by stars who walk on air and want art in fashion as much as she does. She created Cher’s famous leather thong outfit from her ‘Turn Back Time’ video and she works, and plays with such famous names as Lady Gaga, Miss J. Alexander (ANTM) and uses singer and model Morganne Picard as her spokesmodel for her brand.

Morganne Picard with Maggie Barry

LA Fashion Week on Monday, October 15th was a visual collaboration brought together by both of these artists & designers to create a step away from traditional fashion to bring Fashion fusion/footwear to life for Maggie Barry and Michael Antonio’s SS 2013 show in downtown’s nightspot, Exchange LA.

This brought designers, stylists, fashionistas, actors, actresses, fashion/event photographer, trend watchers and the artistic diva’s of the night out.

I ran into Eric of Prep Jerks whose business as a stylist and fashion forward man is booming. Keep an eye on him here http://www.prepjerks.com. He’s got a taste for business, design and fashion that is unparalleled. Go Prep Jerks!

The collection was stunning, eclectic, bright, beautiful, unique and I loved every moment. I ran into friends (Vikki Lizzie, Sabrini Paridisi) saw a freak chic ladies from acting (Bai Ling, Phoebe Price) and loved the sleek futuristic runway clothing and shoes. From the flash to atmospheric after party, this event was a win/win.

Let’s take a look at who and what showed up,

A very HUGE thank you to Bob Degadillo for use of his photos!! He always makes me look gorgeous

Yes men dressed well too. Kilt’s are ALWAY in.
Showing shoes to Eric of Prep Jerks. Available at Bizzy B of Hollywood.
Loved her outfit, classic black with perfect bow topper.
This is how to steal the show. Greatest hat I have ever seen as well. unfortunately it’s a New York city one-of-a-kind find. Sorry ladies.
Best guys to party with. Over bar the bar these guys were cracking me up.
LA girls
Packed!
The most fabulous jacket there. Missing in photo, the sequins attached to this were iridescent.
The show ended with a giant dancing orb

The show tapped into an amazing visual of light with a cross of adult animation come to life. Think Aeon Flux done right. I have to commend and recommend checking out Maggie Barry for those who haven’t seen her art and fashion. The woman is beyond a visionary.

Check out the runway video below (I was in an uncomfortable position making, however it somehow made great footage).

Chanel SS 2013 For The Win!

We all know Karl Lagerfeld is relentless, superior, eccentric and bit of freak chic. With this years SS 2013 collection on a runway dotted with wind tunnels and eco fab, he is now insurmountable aka no one can bring it like he does.

Recreating the 80’s-90’s with a new and fresh twist Karl Lagerfeld focused on material and recreation of shape for SS 2013. Always an original he crossed pattern with shape making the figure less of a focus and focusing on big, bulky, large and fab! Always an original, he even added a little humor with his own take on obtuse bags, giving the house of Chanel a complete WIN!

Let’s take a look shall we;

(Forgive the late posting darlings, I am felled by the evilest of fever flu’s. If I don’t make sense chalk it up to my fever of 100 F)

Jean Paul Gaultier Takes Back the 80’s and Brings the Fierce, SS 2013 Collection (video/gallery)

I admit I am a huge fan of 80’s music. All things one hit wonder I have on my iPod and of course I am a ridiculous Bowie fan. I am also a HUGE Jean Paul Gaultier fan.

When these two things coincide and come together we have JPG’s SS 2013 collection.

This season he conquered eccentric costume clothing for SS 2013 and took the 80’s back. Jean Paul Gaultier re-created something that was both an homage and a new look at an old glamorous style with geometric shapes, sheer clothing and dashes of monochromatic mixed with blinding and beautiful color prints.

As usual he conquered Paris Fashion Week SS 2013 with everything Gaultier. With KISS in the front row causing quite a stir he started the show with fierce 80’s inspired suits, complete with sexy cut outs and ending with Amanda Lear and a cavalcade of sexy man beasts in mesh outfits sporting sky-high platform heels (not boots, heels).

Check out the full unedited runway video below;

And the gallery of all the looks below thanks to the illustrious Style.com

No wonder this man is one of my top five favorite designers. His insane quality, design, style and vision most definitely set him apart.

SS 2013 Dolce and Gabbana’s Platforms and Prints! Retro 60’s Africanique Chic with a Side of Grecian Goddess #funkalicious

Dolce and Gabbana never cease to amaze me.

I believe they are the one design house that is consistently creating fashion that is wearable art. Playful, chic, unique, specialized and always with a twist they outdo themselves every season, creating something most can’t even imagine as much as visualize and make.

Check out some of the over the top, brightly colored beach, Grecian & Caribbean print chic they brought to life;

Backstage, retro stripes and Grecian inspiration for SS 2013 D&G line

Backstage mirrored supermodel sauciness
Gladiator print on a stunning orange/sexy silhouette with stunning platforms and breton stripes galore this season
Stripes and 60s twist done with D&G overdrive
Striped beach wear perfection, fab purse but I proclaim these the most stunning platforms of SS 2013!!!
Show stopper in bronze, red and yellow
Wicker and lace in perfect taste!
Couture Crazy and wearable?! Of course, it’s D&G!! A perfect end to SS 2013 ❤

All hail the duo known as Dolce and Gabbana!

They are ALWAYS straight up fun. I hate stuffy designers who take themselves too seriously and these two always leave the show goers gasping and the runway smiling.
