Victoria’s Secret; Helping NYC & The National Guard. I <3 The USA

This was too good to pass up on blogging.

Hurricane Sandy has unfortunately, in a very real way, destroyed and crippled much of NYC. As the National Guard has been sent out to save the day, seems they needed saving.

By Victoria’s Secret.

As the 69th Infantry (yes that is a real number)National Guard powered up to save lives Monday, their power went down.

We ❤ the National Guard, 69th Infantry

Not so far away Victoria’s Secret had 8 generators helping them get ready for their infamous bedazzled, sparkling boobies of 2012, fashion show. According to my darlings over at the Wired Magazine;

According to Wired, the troops called up the Victoria’s Secret camp Tuesday morning, and, by 7pm that night, the armory was powered and ready to go.

“We were dead in the water until Victoria’s Secret showed up,” Capt. Brendan Gendron, the Regiment’s operations officer, told Wired.

How about that for saving the world? Thanks to Victoria’s Secret, they had power, warmth, elevators and all around warm fuzzy feelings towards boobies.

According to the Huff Post Online, Victoria’s Secret took their NYC/National Guard love even further,

 Victoria’s Secret came to the rescue yet again. This time, they helped the troops and the Federal Emergency Management Agency by providing a forklift that would be used to efficiently distribute food.

Awww, gosh darnit. Only in the US would boobies save a hurricane ravaged city AND the National Guard with extra power and heavy machinery. That’s too touching.

This is better than a basket full of puppies. I love muh country.

Thanks Vic’s Secret, and the 69th Infantry. We Salute You!

Last Minute Halloween Rush – Where to Go on Hollywood Boulevard

Oh Halloween. My favorite time of year. Of Course.

It’s a time where every girl is allowed to dress like a slut (see: Mean Girls) and every dude gets to actually dress UP. Kids get free candy, madness ensues at house parties and everyone wins. Also much preparation goes into costuming, unless, you are one of THOSE people. Yes, a last-minute, what am I wearing, kind of guy/gal. I of course have no idea what that is alike as this holiday is religious for me, but just in case….

Two places spring to mind when shopping for last-minute costumes. Bizzy B of Hollywood and Hollywood Toys and Costumes. Bizzy B of Hollywood is at 6548-50 Hollywood Boulevard and Hollywood Toys and Costumes is at 6600 Hollywood Boulevard. A perfect two stop shop.

First stop Bizzy B of Hollywood. This place, I am a little biased with Bizzy B because I have been shopping there for 7 years. My bias is justified. Nicki Minaj’s stylist shops here, there is a huge celeb clientele including Cee Lo AND she has full costumes for girls AND BOYS.

Yes guys can find a costume here. Which is a miracle!

Bizzy B is perfect for full costumes ranging from $15-$100+ depending on what and how intricate and well made. Some are custom-made by Beatrice herself. See below;

Wonder Woman done right!

What about accessories? Bizzy B does have two accessory walls but if you don’t find it there go down the block…..

This is where Hollywood toys and Costumes comes in. Any and every accessory you have ever imagined from hair blaeach/dye/wigs/props/rhinestones/eyelashes/ball & chain/pitchforks/pom poms/tails/stuff to decorate with, THEY HAVE IT! I recently went in to look for pom pom and they had an entire wall of them. As far as accessories on the cheap, they take the cake.

I suppose you want some information? Need to call ahead and see if they have what you need.

Here’s the addresses and phone numbers;

McQueen SS 2013 to Start Your Afternoon

Living or dead  I will always support the house of McQueen. Before Alexander McQueen committed suicide his work was unparalleled in a world of unique, strange and beautiful designs. Now Sarah Burton has not only kept the world of McQueen alive but has offered a fresh take that fits McQueen’s world like a glove.

This year an elaborate bee themed collection hit the Paris runway with geometric shapes and classic designs reminiscent of the 60’s. Mad Men-esque? Perhaps, but always with a twist of McQueen on top. Well played Sarah Burton.

15 Minutes of AWESOME, brought to you by the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard

Julia Gillard needs to come to the US and bring her pocket full of whoop ass.

Recently the Aussie Prime Minister had enough of Tony Abbott’s EXTREMELY misogynistic comment’s and sexual harassment of a gay cabinet member via text’s.

Julia gave a 15 minute passionate and some what scathing speech to the House of Representative’s. This made everyone pay attention except Abbott who think’s he’s special.

At the lovely Jezebel.com, they broke down some of the loveliest quotes from the Prime Minister. Here’s a few gem’s;

I will not be lectured about sexism and misogyny by this man, I will not. Not now, not ever. What i won’t stand for, what I will never stand for is the leader of the opposition peddling a double standard, a standard he has not set for members of his own front bench.

If he wants to know what misogyny looks like in modern Australia he doesn’t need a motion in the house of Representatives, he needs a mirror.

I was very offended personally the Leader of the Opposition said abortion is the easy way out.

I was offended by the sexism, by the misogyny of the Leader of the Opposition cat calling across this table at me as I sit here as prime minister [saying], ‘If the prime minister wants to make an honest woman of herself…’ something that would never have been said to any man sitting in this chair.

I was offended when he stood next to a sign that described me as a ‘man’s bitch.’

He has said, ‘If it’s true that men have more power, generally speaking, than women, is that a bad thing?’ [and] ‘What if men, by physiology or temperament, are more adapted to exercise authority or to issue command?’

He can apologise for standing next to signs [about me] saying, ‘Ditch the Witch.’

Now he is looking at his watch [which Abbott was] because apparently a woman’s spoken too long.

Here is the video and the AMAZING women right’s speech I cannot stop smiling at. GO JULIA!! (compliments of ABCNews on Youtube)

The Ginger’s have it. What can I say, you do NOT want to invoke redhead rage.

Chanel SS 2013 For The Win!

We all know Karl Lagerfeld is relentless, superior, eccentric and bit of freak chic. With this years SS 2013 collection on a runway dotted with wind tunnels and eco fab, he is now insurmountable aka no one can bring it like he does.

Recreating the 80’s-90’s with a new and fresh twist Karl Lagerfeld focused on material and recreation of shape for SS 2013. Always an original he crossed pattern with shape making the figure less of a focus and focusing on big, bulky, large and fab! Always an original, he even added a little humor with his own take on obtuse bags, giving the house of Chanel a complete WIN!

Let’s take a look shall we;

(Forgive the late posting darlings, I am felled by the evilest of fever flu’s. If I don’t make sense chalk it up to my fever of 100 F)

Jean Paul Gaultier Takes Back the 80’s and Brings the Fierce, SS 2013 Collection (video/gallery)

I admit I am a huge fan of 80’s music. All things one hit wonder I have on my iPod and of course I am a ridiculous Bowie fan. I am also a HUGE Jean Paul Gaultier fan.

When these two things coincide and come together we have JPG’s SS 2013 collection.

This season he conquered eccentric costume clothing for SS 2013 and took the 80’s back. Jean Paul Gaultier re-created something that was both an homage and a new look at an old glamorous style with geometric shapes, sheer clothing and dashes of monochromatic mixed with blinding and beautiful color prints.

As usual he conquered Paris Fashion Week SS 2013 with everything Gaultier. With KISS in the front row causing quite a stir he started the show with fierce 80’s inspired suits, complete with sexy cut outs and ending with Amanda Lear and a cavalcade of sexy man beasts in mesh outfits sporting sky-high platform heels (not boots, heels).

Check out the full unedited runway video below;

And the gallery of all the looks below thanks to the illustrious Style.com

No wonder this man is one of my top five favorite designers. His insane quality, design, style and vision most definitely set him apart.

No You Can’t Have It, Yes We Want It; World’s Most Expensive Dress!

There are some things so opulent in life even the very, very rich 1% window shop it and drool at the thought of SOMEDAY getting it into their hot little money-laden hands. And that something is this;

Introducing, the world’s most expensive dress!

This beautiful dress is made by designer Debbie Wingham, weighs in around 30 pounds in weight, carries 25 carat black diamonds on the peplum and shoulder shrug and costs a nice fat $5,682,950.

See the black diamonds? Neither do I, but I still want this dress.

Heading towards Five million seven hundred thousand dollars this dress makes the VIP crowd in Dubai shake in their shoes. Wingham states it took 6 months to hand sew every little diamond and design this diamond darling. Her inspiration and thought’s for this pricey dress?

(The dress is)an anthem for a beautiful woman who loves life

I think we all love life but this is for someone with a never-ending bank account. Most certainly not made for the average diva (perhaps Aretha or Ms. Diana Ross).

If you had an extra 5.7 million lying around would you buy this dress?

SS 2013 Dolce and Gabbana’s Platforms and Prints! Retro 60’s Africanique Chic with a Side of Grecian Goddess #funkalicious

Dolce and Gabbana never cease to amaze me.

I believe they are the one design house that is consistently creating fashion that is wearable art. Playful, chic, unique, specialized and always with a twist they outdo themselves every season, creating something most can’t even imagine as much as visualize and make.

Check out some of the over the top, brightly colored beach, Grecian & Caribbean print chic they brought to life;

Backstage, retro stripes and Grecian inspiration for SS 2013 D&G line

Backstage mirrored supermodel sauciness
Gladiator print on a stunning orange/sexy silhouette with stunning platforms and breton stripes galore this season
Stripes and 60s twist done with D&G overdrive
Striped beach wear perfection, fab purse but I proclaim these the most stunning platforms of SS 2013!!!
Show stopper in bronze, red and yellow
Wicker and lace in perfect taste!
Couture Crazy and wearable?! Of course, it’s D&G!! A perfect end to SS 2013 ❤

All hail the duo known as Dolce and Gabbana!

They are ALWAYS straight up fun. I hate stuffy designers who take themselves too seriously and these two always leave the show goers gasping and the runway smiling.
