L.A. Culture Night Out; Event by Leveled Magazine & Den. M. Bar

People seem to enjoy hating on LA.

We have been pegged as a soulless society of plastic people in tinsel town. That is why I LOVE proving the outside world W-R-O-N-G.
LA is a cool town, with too much to do. We thrive in culture, artistry with a neo-futuristic background to live in reminiscent of ‘Metropolis’. We have underground culture an are the bringer’s of new, not old.

Case in point I bring you Leveled Magazine & Den.m Bar’s Wednesday social at the Hive Gallery in DTLA.

Let me explain a little about the cool cats who ran this, starting with Leveled Magazine;

Their Mission; Bringing the culture of Los Angeles (and the world) to your brain. With everything from epic editorials to fierce fashion these guys have won me over. I get sick of ‘genre’ magazines that cover one maybe two things.

This month’s issue includes a Beautiful spread on Audrey Kitching and a weird editorial article & photo shoot with stars like Bobcat Goldthwait and Kathy Griffin.

Let’s take it a step further for the fashionably aware out there.
Los Angeles hippest custom denim company Den.m.Bar was repping this too. Den.M Bar for those not in the know is best described as a couture jeans company. Walk in and pick from a huge line of custom denim creating a jean for yourself that includes picking out your own zippers, pocket cloth and even thread. Custom is the 21st century ultimate couture and now it’s accessible.

Angelenos are notoriously picky ranging from food to clothing despite our casual looking lifestyle. Which is why I only go to events like this. With fashion, culture, and an open bar. Yes, Leveled Magazine had drinks mixing voddy with One Coconut Water or ever lovely Honest Tea. There was even fizzy Kombucha from the fab people at Health-ade.

Now you have a perfect evening. I even have the pictures below to prove it.

Lilo and Sheen Sign for Scary Movie 5. Holy Hell, the Apocalypse/Rapture is Upon Us!

According the lovely people at E! Charlie Sheen is back for another romp in the scary movie series. This should be interesting with his ‘Tiger Blood’ on set, i.e. crackhead craziness.

Wait there is more, Lovely Lindsay Lohan aka LiLo has signed on too. Oh…Em…Gee….Fuckballs. This is beyond interesting. I expect this to be ….HIGH-larious. Imagine the Wizard and Queen of drug addiction together. What kind of insurance do you need for that kind of movie? Holy bejesus!

As far as Lohan she once again, or should I say notoriously, has NOT signed a contract yet. So um, is she in it?

Her rep said that, “as of right this moment,” she had not inked a deal, but all insiders are in agreement that she is definitely doing the movie.

Sources also say that the ever-comebacking Charlie Sheen, despite being uncomfortably killed off in Scary Movie 4, will be back for the next sequel, which is being touted as a complete reboot of the franchise and is due in theaters Jan. 11, 2013.

Oh eff me, really. This is like all the other movies Lindsay says she is in. They want her but she is even HIGH-er risk than Sheen who at least has a REAL career backing him up. Maybe he can use his magic Wizard powers to push this through because it will be a must-see movie.

Lets hope neither one OD’s or dies half way through shooting I kind of want to see this made.

Ghostbusters 3 is a Go, One Last Boo-Yah. Sadly No Murray.

I suppose I saw this coming.

Bill Murray is after all a ‘serious’ actor now. Ever since ‘Lost in Translation’, we lost Bill Murray. That sweet, sideways smile, dirty mouth, quippy one-lining kind of guy has set sail.

Thankfully, we still have Akroyd. Dan Akroyd had partied with Humpty AND Tupac in the 90s. He has written, produced and played some of the most amazing characters in cinema history, including Elwood Blues. The man is a genius;


I will give Akroyd the benefit of my doubt. He is dedicated, slightly funky, a genuine classy weirdo and I appreciate that.

When I heard they were doing a ‘Ghostbusters 3’, I admit to cringing REALLY HARD. I seem to be having my childhood bastardized. ‘Dukes of Hazard, ‘Love Boat’. What is next? Rigggggghtht ‘Beverly Hills Cop 20” with Eddie Murphy (desperate). Maybe they should do a ‘Kojak’ movie next. Ugh.

I think if anyone can save this, Akroyd can. After all he got Digital Underground to be in, ‘Nothing But Trouble’. He does have swagger.

M: Is Ghostbusters 3 finally happening?

D: Yes, we’ve got a brilliant new writer on it and we’ll be passing the torch on to a new generation. We’re working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I’m confident we’ll be in production in the next year.

M:It’s been a long process, hasn’t it?

D: Yes, but now we’ve got the studio on side. We’ve tried a few concepts which weren’t right but now we’ve got a good structure and will make it happen.

M: Is Bill Murray doing it?

D: No, I can tell you he won’t be involved.

M: How do you feel about that?

D: It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.

Kami Shade Fashion Show Presented by W Magazine at Eden Hollywood. Backstage Exclusive.

Diva, Goddess and Fashion Designer Kami Shade. Recently gracing the pages of W Magazine (featuring her black one piece swimsuit) she is an emerging designer with an amazing presence and defining eye. She brings swaths of sequined material to life in a unique way that is both wicked and fun. More importantly totally wearable.

I was recently invited to attend a private and exclusive, invite-only show at Eden Hollywood. Eden Hollywood if you have not been is VERY exclusive. Being an SBE venue gives it an edge that makes an interior designers dream. Add Kami Shade designs and it was an enviable evening.

Check in was at 9:30 pm. Being media means that you don’t get to waltz in anytime. I did get there early with my roomie and luckily got to see some of the girls pre-show and take a photo or two.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Can I just say they are superstar’s. Between fitting the models, getting them all in air and make up and making sure everyone was happy and organized they were a cut above the rest.

We eventually were led back into the back area/VIP lounge where 2 of Kami’s assistants were working with the models.

While they took care of technical issues, i.e. the girls and I got to socialize a bit. The people working with Kami are astounding and generally greatly amusing….in a good way of course.

 

 

 

 

I also got to goof with some of the models.

Not all models are brainless and stuck up. In fact contrary to most of the (jealous) populations belief they are ridiculous and fun like the rest of us. (I hear the echo of a ‘Just Like Us’ article here)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UNLESS, they are working. Hair and make up is a must for runway so sit still….

Because if you move you could lose an eye darlings.

After make-up the back bathroom becomes full of girls trying out fits for best fit and Kami’s assistant were super stars while Kami worked with SBE on getting the runway show ready.

She was also super sweet about letting me take a full Diva picture of her. Talented and sexy!

I have to tell you it is incredibly tempting to jump in and help, or try on the clothes. It is interesting to watch the havoc at a runway show. It goes from social hour to run, jump and shake a tail feather. The havoc is amazing and the energy crackles backstage. It is straight 0 to 200 mph and there is no way not to love the chaos. It’s just pure fashion at it’s best.

I have to apologize to Kami for not covering her complete show as there was an issue with SBE club security not letting me out to view what I was covering. However I do have to thank David Bever at for the photos from the runway. They are fabulous.

The best pat of Kami Shade’s fashion show for me though was seeing that she gives back. After the show Kami let the girls take a piece home. A real rarity for a designer and the best way to pay the models back for their hard work. And it was a fray!

Kami Shade deserves major props. Not just for creating a line for women that are gorgeous, sexy with lines that define the body perfectly, but for all her hard work.

Kami Shade is indeed an emerging artist to watch, admire and buy from. Her work is powerful, trendy and grabs the eye. She does make clothing custom, so if you think ‘it won’t fit’, it will. She’s talented like that.

On the set of ‘Magic Mike’ at Bizzy B of Hollywood & Interview with Sexy Owner Beatrice Prochazka

I was watching that glorious new chick flick/man meat movie ‘Magic Mike’ with my roommate. As we screamed, hooted and hollered at the TV we were stopped in our tracks. No, it wasn’t just because Channing Tatum’s hot dance moves, or Joe Mangiello’s fabulous chest. It was because we actually recognized where they were shooting.

And it was freekin Bizzy B of Hollywood.

Yes that’s right, it’s where the star’s shop for their bikini’s, dance wear and nether things. Now with a nifty guys section. That’s right they stuff for boys now too. And in that boys section was Channing Tatum, shopping for man thong with Alex Petyfer.

Oh…my….god. Someone pinch me. Being a writer and a bit of a cinephile I had to rush down and cover this. Also take cheesy pictures with the underwear they were shopping for in the movie.

H: How long were they shooting here in Bizzy B of Hollywood?

B: Two days

H:I saw that you had a cameo in the movie, did you enjoy it?

B:It was wonderful! I loved having them in the store. Steven Sodenberg was here on set and Channing Tatum brought his wife.

H: How sweet! What was your favorite part of shooting with the Magic Mike Crew?

B: I got to talk and connect with Channing Tatum. He is so nice. He asked if he could use my name in the movie. (He say’s ‘Hi Beatrice as he first walks in the store in the movie’).

H:Well I am glad he used your name or I wouldn’t have believed it was you.

I always knew my odd and wonderful friendship’s in Hollywood would pay off. Who knew my lingerie would too. HUGE thanks to Bizzy B for letting me invade her store and take fan girl photos. I mean the hotties of ‘Magic Mike’ in my favorite store on the Boulevard. Lord have mercy. Why didn’t someone call me!

Breaking News – Sylvester Stallone’s son Sage Dead at 36 RIP

Earlier Sage Stallone was found dead in his Hollywood apartment Friday. He was 36.

Sources say it was from a ‘possible’ pill overdose. It is unknown at the moment if that was the cause of death. Sage was the son of Sylvester and his ex-wife Sasha Czack.

Sage is a well-known Actor, Director, Producer and worked as a Screenwriter. According to news sources Sage was planning a wedding to his fiance, working on new projects and was supposedly very happy. So sad.

A rep for Stallone commented;

“Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever.”

Our condolences go out to the Stallone/Czack family. Let’s hope the gossip rags (coughTMZ) give them a little respect and time to grieve.

 

Lindsay Lohan Lies…AGAIN.

Yes, the inevitable has happened. Lindsay Lohan lied AGAIN, this time about her Porsche accident. Remember the post where she hit a semi? Remember how it was the Trucks fault? Then it was the bad brakes on her rental Porsche.

Guess what hunny? No one believes the little redheaded blond who cries meth crystals anymore.

Porsche actually picked up the car. They tested the so-called faulty brakes and the test proved….drum roll please….they work perfectly.

According to Dlisted.com;

Porsche picked up LiLo’s bruised and busted car from the place she rented it from and ran a few brake tests on it. Shockingly, the brakes worked fine and Porsche couldn’t find anything wrong with them. So the only thing broke is LiLo’s ability to barf up the truth.

Uh oh, the shit just hit the fan. Again.

Let’s see if she can bribe, talk, lie her way out the jail time she’ll be facing.

Do think Lindsay Lohan well dodge charges on her car crash or is Porsche going to reem her and throw her away to detox in jail AGAIN?

7/12/12 Artwalk Riot in DTLA; What really happened (how to ruin a good night)

Because news is heresy and I was there. I want to tell you my story and what REALLY happened.

First let me clarify, OCCUPY LA movement was not involved. If there were there on their own accord, they were bystanders who got drawn into POLICE/LAPD fire. Those people fight for their right peacefully.

Might I add this once again is forcing my dislike for the police in this town. Stalked for four years, they can’t help, someone attacked me in my house, they tried to victimize me and say I did it. I’m shaking my finger at you very vigorously LAPD (get it together boys).

In sequence my night started off lovely. My roomie came home from work hot and sweaty and I was taking her to her FIRST Artwalk in DTLA. We dressed up, were meeting friends. Perfect.

Then the rain started and it was even better. Cooling off everyone helped easy the aggro and we needed the rain. Add a perfect colorful LA sunset and a shot of vodka and my night was off to a good start.

The first thing I see as I get down to Artwalk is this loveliness.

Hooray for this window. Next we stopped off to see Tina Summers at her boutique half a block from 5th & Spring at ‘Uniqbill’ Boutique. My roomie got some serious spike earrings and we chatted.

I was warned by Tina and her family that there was a protest 1/2 a block west from 5th & Spring. Turned out the bullhorn I had heard was the cops ‘hassling people’ “Fine”, I said, we’ll just go the other way”. And we did, and it was fine.

We ventured into the Artwalk ‘I Art U DTLA Pop up Boutique at 521 S. Spring st.

It was packed full of happy and hot shoppers.

Look at all the angry people. Oh right, that is what is missing from this picture.

Stopping by Astera Leather’s booth we found awesome Gir coasters made of leather by Kim Weaver.

And headed over to view the awesome display at Candy Wax Cutie

These guys are a very cool creative collective of Artists, Photographers, Film Makers, Models, Fashion Designers and Make Up Artists who are making art in every way possible. I spoke to one of the girls there extensively. They really pulling together to be professional and unique in what they do. Check out the display of one of the Costumers.

After she gave us free Monster (hallelujah, free energy drinks) she warned us thing were bad outside on 5th how we came. Again I answered, “No problem we’ll go out the back” and we did.

That was about 10:20PM, and then shit started going bad as we exited on to 6th as we headed to 7th and Pershing Squares Metro.

First Police helicopters flew in, then we were passed by 10 cop cars sirens blaring shooting down Spring. In the midst of it all we walked a block to far so we cut across Pershing Square. There was chalk art everywhere. Kitties and rainbows and some hearts and the word ‘Peace’.  Really fun, innocent and cute. This is what the police were fighting with people about. Yep. Chalk art by sweet peace-loving kids.

As we neared 7th again and crossed the street we the police were about 50 feet from us. All in riot gear. Cars blocking the street, 20 cops in a line in riot gear. 15 feet from them, one stationed at each staircase leading into the metro at Pershing Square. I figured try getting in and if necessary run and catch it ANYWHERE else.

As we crossed the street we actually passed this kid, shirt up, surrounded by his friends taking cell phone pictures.

Weird finding a photo the next day.

I pulled my roomie away from him. At that moment we saw the elevator. Whipped around the corner, caught it with 5 others. Last minute a couple ran in. We all looked at each other and giggled nervously.

After that I called a few people CBS News and NBCLA were already spreading false facts. Police were hurt, etc. and it was an OCCUPY LA thing. It wasn’t.

Truth be told it was over some nice people passing out chalk to draw with. The kind you give a five-year old.The police didn’t like it and used force. Probably said it was destruction of property. Innocent bystanders got hit with rubber bullets and bean bags. Shot in the face and attacked for loving art and Los Angeles.

Not only that but they totally ruined my shopping buzz. Which is a far bigger sin than they know.

Unforgivably it was very real violence. Why this? And why on a night of festivities, music and promoting artists?

Thanks LAPD, You really ruined a beautiful night. For everyone

Bounty Wars Update

Get Yo Ass to Ulta West Hollywood/Update

Sorry I have been a non-blogger kittens. I hate missing out on the good stuff and I promise to update over the next day or so.

In order to make up for my blogging lack there of, I am bringing you good news from the land of West Hollywood or the evil known as, ‘The West Hollywood Gateway’.

Today as I flew around town doing a million errands I landed in ‘Ulta’, West Hollywood.

I can give you a million excuses. I’m a terrible beauty product slut and of course the #1 reason….I’m a girl.

Thankfully for once I come with great news that won’t break your bank account. At this moment this particular Ulta is undergoing a refurb in the middle of the store. Since it makes shopping there ‘inconvenient’ they have marked a ton of stuff down and are using this as a reason to have major ‘clearance sale’.

Oh hallelujah, and praise the Gods of Ulta. Although the discount is trickily stuck in the cheaper aisles to the far left, it’s there if you are willing to look.

I even scored a cheap indulgence for even cheaper than normal.

This bath/shower gel is nice, light and leaves you smelling great. It’s even ok for sensitive skin and doesn’t upset people with perfume allergies.

Get your bootie out the door kittens. Ulta West Hollywood is usually open until 9pm, 7 days a week.

Looks like this will last just long enough, you can get your make up and body freak on for cheap. Now that’s something everyone can love.

Oh Sookeh! You’re Pregnant? And premiere of True Blood TONIGHT!

Tonight is the premiere of Season 5 of true Blood and we’re all salivating, drooling and scratching at the TV screen for some hot fangbangin’ action.

Orrrrr, maybe we are just waiting for more of this.

Naked Eric, Faery Sookeh, and dark brooding Beeeehl, it’s all going down tonight on HBO. However I am curious how thing’s will go this season since they probably had to cover up this.

Yes our favorite ‘fucking Faery’, as Pam says, is pregnant and has been for a while.

After a wonderful on/off-screen romance, Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin tied the knot in August 2010. Thousands of fans of True Blood sighed as the romantic couple married because nothing is better than your on-screen fav couple getting married ‘for real’.

With Anna Paquin pregnant, all of us that are hooked on the Blood cannot wait to see their uber cute baby. Even their co-stars are spouting cute comments.

Ryan Kwanten was quoted saying,

“{They}are going to make amazing parents!””They have a real lust for life.Yes, they’re adults, but they’re both very young at heart. I would love to be raised in that household!

Lindsay Lohan Collides with 18 Wheeler and Escapes Unscathed.

How lucky IS this girl?

After many trips to the hospital for ‘exhaustion’, time in jail, a drug and alcohol habit that knows no bounds, Lindsay Lohan, 26, is still kicking…..after hitting an 18 wheeler.

The actress hit an 18 wheeler in her Porsche destroying her car on PCH. Her passenger window shattered completely and rear bumper was fully off according to slimy website TMZ.

They weren’t kidding. Thankfully Lohan escaped with minor bruises and abrasions. An ambulance was called but she went to the hospital in a separate car.

Recently Lohan was filming Liz and Dick hoping to resurrect her flailing career. Although I think it’s blasphemy, here is one of the first promo pictures from JustJared.com

Lindsay is reportedly ‘ok’.

I am not sure if this is a good thing. I was kind of hoping she would spend time there and ‘dry out’.
