Vanessa Hudgens, ex-Disney kid, Ex of Zac Efron and Ex-High School Music twenty something girl. She’s go loads of ca$$$h, and a career that has been a really good PR stunt. She’s boho, cute and a Coachella kind of gal.
So where in the holy hell did this come from. Here we have a 90’s throwback video with a day-glo twist that hurts my ears, eyes and makes my skin crawl. I’m not sure if this is three minutes of a cheer, or a song. I think secretly Disney had something to do with this mess. And it is VERY not cute.
It seems that YLA are actually the ones who are in charge of co-cheering this song into existence and producing it. Although I give them props for using the B list tween for her fame to move up, this was pretty much a bad move. YLA needs to take their name off this hot 90s mess. This was not meant to be seen by the public girls. And our tween superstar Vanessa? Vanessa Hudgens needs to stick to tween moves with hot leading men.
Every Disney kid has to try to put out a hit single. Sorry Vanessa H. fans, this is definitely a miss.
If David Guetta didn’t wake you up with his pop house weirdness this morning maybe I can kick your little fashion ass into gear with this video. Put together by the lovely people at Vogue, Cara Delivigne (supermodel of the moment) rocks out in this Punk Stories video by Quentin Jones of Cadence (New York).
It’s a non-stop fashion blast. Grab your nearest Vivienne Westwood/Malcolm McLaren t-shirt, and turn up the volume for a perfect punk Vogue story.
All the world is your stage, until you get busted. Then you are just another Disney kid.
Justin Bieber stepped into the shoes of many a Disney kid by getting busted for drugs, Wednesday night, in Stockholm. The Swedish authorities noses were super sensitive and caught a ‘whiff’ of something funny smelling as Bieber boarded his tour bus last night. No, it was not Nag Champa.
“A colleague sensed what was considered to be a strong smell of marijuana,” Stockholm police spokesman Lars Byström told the Aftonbladet newspaper.
Sensed? What is this? A new B movie in the making? A cop with a ‘weed’ sense that busts pot smokers is coming for YOU.
Being Swedish I have to give my people props for busting the Bieber and bringing this to light. Being compassionate I feel for the Bieber. I live in California where weed is like, well, a weed. There are at least 6 medical marijuana clinics with in walking radius of my apartment in West Hollywood. SIX. Yeah we are totally mellow out here in California FOR A REASON.
Don’t worry. Their love for Bieber conquered all Beliebers,
“We don’t have any concrete suspicions against any specific person; there were several people on the bus,” Byström told Aftonbladet.
Technically speaking it could have been his BFF Lil Twist, or a roadie. Let’s hope he gets off with a small fine. Bieber has had enough controversy on this European tour.
Saint Laurent recently revamped from the iconic Yves Saint Laurent to….Saint Laurent thanks to creative director Heidi Slimane. (Read more HERE)
With a fashion house this iconic it was a daring decision and perhaps could have been a pitfall. However with a super power in the industry like (Yves) Saint Laurent they refuse to let simple things, such as a change in name, ruin a platinum reputation.
Enter Heidi Slimane. Iconic fashion & music photographer and mad genius. Add Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Ariel Pink of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. All as mad, strange and beautiful as the new house of Saint Laurent, and Heidi Slimane.
Create a campaign using all of the above rock icon’s from the ’90’s, and you have perfection with side of hardcore only Slimane is keyed into. And one beautiful campaign.
See the new faces of Saint Laurent below as captured by Heidi Slimane.
OMGOMGOMG…Kick-Ass 2 is coming out and my inner geek girl can barely handle it.
First off I have to admit to my personal love affair with Chloe Moretz.
She is the business, and I can only hope every 16-year-old out there is taking notes on how to be awesome from her. She conquered the movie Kick-Ass, by being super cool at only 12 years old, but also managed to steal the movie from Nick Cage and Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass). Then she moved on to 30Rock where she whooped Jack Donehy’s ass several rounds, corporate style.
Now, at 16, she is the center of Kick-Ass 2 and is OWNING IT. Add an all-star cast including Jim Carrey, Lyndsy Fonseca (pickle fork girl from Hot Tub Time Machine/ TV’s Nikita), John Leguizamo and one of my other personal favorites, Donald Faison.
Check out the uber sweet trailer below. (And Aaron Johnson’s manly chest at around the :59 mark. Kick-Ass apparently has been working out)
Are you dying to see it? Yeah well us suckers for a good thing can’t watch it until it premieres on August 16, of this year. Until then we await the return of our favorite superheroes patiently. Now go work on your costume and I’ll see you there masked avengers.
I have seen a million campaign ad’s for fashion houses. Some are well done and some, complete crap. Some have artistic quality and some are just lewd.
This campaign video, by Louis Vuitton, is beautiful, chic, naughty, sexual and deliciously done.
Supposedly, and hear this by proxy of the HuffPost, feminist’ are up in arms about it due to it ‘glamorizing prostitution’. Being a feminist and being a strong-willed little fire starter myself I don’t buy the hype. It is sex, sex with a side of sexy. It also mad me really want the lingerie collection for AW 2013.
Beyoncé, super queen of the Superbowl is on a roll. I haven’t heard anything super hot from Miss Beyoncé since her collab with the GAGA. I was beyond impressed with her act at Superbowl (especially meltdown 2013 from her electrical prowess) but to follow-up with this song. Well I won’t bow down but I will give hella props. Listen to this and get your freak on kittens.
And here’s lyrics in case you were wondering….
[Hook]
I’m out that H-town
Coming, coming down
I’m coming down dripping candy on the ground
H, H-town, town, I’m coming down
Coming down dripping candy on the ground
[Verse 1]
I know when you were little girls
You dreamt of being in my world
Don’t forget it , don’t forget it
Respect that, bow down bitches
I took some time to live my life
But don’t think I’m just his little wife
Don’t get it twisted, get it twisted
This my shit, bow down bitches
[Bridge]
Bow down bitches, bow bow down bitches
Bow down bitches, bow bow down bitches
H-town vicious, h-h-town vicious
I’m so crown, bow bow down bitches
[Hook x2]
I been on, I been on, I been on
Tell me who gone take me off
Take me off, take me off, take me off
[Verse 2]
Rolling high, leather and wood
Keep it trill, that’s what good
Kiss my momma, show that love
Pop them bottles in that club
I heard your boo was talking lip
I told my crew to smack that trick
Smack that trick, smack that trick
Guess what they did, smack that trick
Gold everything, gold ass chain
Gold ass rings, gold ass fangs
You can see me stunt when you turn on ya screen
You can see me stunt when you turn on ya screen
I’m bigger than life, my name in the lights
I’m the number one chick, ain’t need no hype
The capital b means, I’m ’bout that life
The capital b means, I’m ’bout that life
[Hook]
[Outro]
I remember my baby hair with my dookie braids
Frenchy’s, Boudin in the parking lot
Shout out to Willie D
I was in that Willie D video when I was about fourteen, looking crazy
Shout out Pimp C
You know we used to sneak and listen to that UGK
Didn’t do your girl but your sister was alright, damn
In ya homeboy’s Caddy last night
Hold up, Texas trill
H-town going down, man
I have been busier than Paris Hilton on Rodeo Drive this week with Los Angeles Fashion Week. First off I want to say to all the organizers and designers, you really came through this year. If Anna Wintour had come out she would have renewed faith in our LAFW. Ya’all are organized and really showing the fierce this year!
Here’s the rundown of Saturday, 3/9.
I went to the 5pm show for Nikki Rich and the 9pm show for B:Scott x Sarah Scott. I of course brought fellow fashionista and designer Amanda Christine of Aji, and later, HeathyrWolfe.com crew member Patrice Prince.
My 5pm outfit was better seen than photographed against the Concept LA art wall;
Nikki Rich was a delight. They really put their best fashion foot forward. I expected more rock n roll looks, but they went more into clean lines with superior draping and choices of material. Casual enough to be pret-a-porter but fierce enough for the diva in club land. I was pleasantly surprised at how full it was and was quickly seated.
The line came out and the runway was well done, professional and unique. I saw material laced with a cracked earth effect. This had an entirely pleasant addition bringing an elegance and originality to the collection. There were neutral colors in the collection but Nikki Lund added dashes of navy blue and deep wine red into the designs. Everything was casual chic and completely wearable, with a nice mix and matchability. Check out the line below;
Later that evening after I changed and returned for the B:Scott event. Running late I found out this event had hit capacity and then some. The gates were closed and the seats were full. Worried I was not going to get in I did last minute!! I squeezed into a VERY full room, thanks to Alyssa. (thank you so much for an amazing show).
B:Scott x Sara Scott entered the runway with a fierce attitude. Mixed with urban chic, heir designs are beyond standard ‘street wear’. Material contrasted beautifully with leathers, wool, cottons. Letterman jackets mixed with snood hats and satin suits in fire engine red. Sleek casual men’s wear graced the runway to cheers. Ending with a standing ovation, B:Scott was the winner of the evening.
What few pictures I did get are below.
Thanks again to Siren Studios, Concept LA and Alyssa and Mallory!
Stay tuned. More LAFW to come.
This years collections have been over run with blasts from the pasts in design and color from the 20’s-1960’s. Colors have mostly been light blue, Cobalt blue, Persimmon and Burnt Umber with a dash of lime and forest green (Calvin Klein collection).
Thankfully a break in the horizon of fashion has come with the always dashing and daring, Gareth Pugh.
His collection steps out of the norm to bring non-traditional minimalism. Full of monochromatic modernist beauty with a dash of midnight blue. An ethereal quality to his designs based more on draping and material instead patterns, and flashes of 60’s jewels and glitz.
As always his collection sets a futuristic tone that has dominated Paris Fashion Week.
Starting out London Fashion Week full force, Alice Temperley took a classic 40’s inspired look adding dashes of golds and blue to accentuate the long linear figures. Drawing heavily on Art Deco and early sixties chic, Temperley still managed to present a very modern look including the ever trendy over sized jackets, boatneck and high collars we have seen all over runways this year.
Her full length gowns wrecked the runway this year with elongated silhouettes. I can see Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton or some other ethereal goddess wearing these to award season. They are chic in design, geometric shaping and linear quality making any woman look tall and lean.
Bravo Miss Temperley.

Defined as a ‘horror’ and worse Rihanna’s fashion debut at London Fashion week is a terrible fail.
Don’t clap hunny. it only makes things worse. (Photos by WireImage/Getty)
‘The Daily Beast’ described her line as a ‘horror show’, and they were right!
According to the Huffpost, Rihanna was over an hour late starting. Making a crowd wait isn’t unheard of, but an hour?! Everything was badly simplistic. TV-esque, 90’s style, with one piece Baywatch Swimsuit & SJP LA Story, off-shoulder outfit with mini skirt. No flourish or trim and 97% see-through, gauzy material fit for a romance novel cover. She was off-season, presenting in London late and not scheduled as part of ‘Official Fashion Week’.
If I were Rihanna right now, I would be hiding somewhere in a bottle of rum.
There are too many reasons Rihanna’s line was a failure but let’s highlight a few.
Involvement; Rihanna’s direct involvement with River Island creating her line, was small at best. She sent texts and emails, choosing the material samples and giving the OK on design via phone. Nothing more. Despite her sad choices in design and material, the real credit to the line goes elsewhere.
Her line created, sewn and draped by designer Philip Green. Green created the Kate Moss line ($$$$) and brought TopShop from a zero to multi-million dollar hero of retail. Philip Green’s collaboration with rock stars and models have ALWAYS created money. However Rihanna is a a fail and a flake. Why?
Professionalism: River Island directly works with ASOS, Primark, Zara and of course Topshop, all of which Rihanna could have had a stake in with a £800,000 contract. Then she jeopardized that.
Two days before her London debut Rihanna was stupidly bold enough to post pictures of a marijuana bud putting her line and professionalism at question with River Island and the fashion community. Mostly, River Island, who very much said that her tweet of green could kill her contract and to keep things under wraps about her love affair with weed. In the fashion community we don’t care what you do, but don’t let everyone know about it.
Over all the line was simple, sad and see through, I can’t even wear it to bed. The blatant 90’s rip off wear is too much for any serious designer to stomach. Rihanna gets a D- for effort, and if possible an F- for the line.
I love Eva Mendes. She is spunky, sexy, knows how to smile, takes things seriously but not too seriously. She is hot, has curves and is just plain gorgeous.
It makes perfect sense having all these attributes that she would go and start her own fashion line.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Eva has partnered with NY&Co. Known for their simple and clean work styles, to create some bombshell gorgeous evening wear. It will be called (of course), Eva by Eva Mendes. Nothing like adding star quality and name to your brand.
“This could be significant for us,” said Greg Scott, chief executive officer of New York & Co. “We like to think big. We’ll see how the collection can grow.” Bridesmaid dresses are just one of the opportunities, Scott said.
Eva by Eva Mendes will consist of a large dress component and accessories. “We don’t address day-to-evening and real cocktail looks today,” Scott said. “There will be pants and jeans because that’s what our brand is known for. Eva is excited to pursue that also.”
I’m glad Eva is pursuing casual wear. We need more pants and jeans to fit our curvier girls. My roommate is 24/7 hell trying to find cute jeans to fit her booty. Eva’s style is amazing and she knows how to put something together is always unique with class. CEO Greg Scott of NY&Co. agree’s;
“We want her influence in the collection,” Scott said. “She has amazing red carpet style and also has a very unique style off the red carpet. She has a real sense of self, which will help us in terms of the design aesthetic. When we look at her, she really is confident.”
Hell yes she does. And she’s smart as a whip too.
I’m looking forward to see what miss thing can put together. I think Eva is beyond sexy. Any attire she helps them create will be too. With such a great sense of style, how it not be a win?
Th collection should have quite a few LBD’s and is full of print’s. Worried it’s ANOTHER celebrity brand with no Eva behind it? Ms. Mendes is 150% involved.
Mendes has already participated in a few creative meetings. “The other day, I went to the office with half my closet,” she said. “Part of the fun is coming up with the designs and looking through my closet. There are a lot of prints and lots of color. Black can be very chic and very New York,” but Mendes realized that her wardrobe is comprised mostly of color and prints.
You go sexy bitch!
I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do for the industry. If she can’t do it, no one can.
Look. It’s Rihanna. In a tub. Not doing anything. Still not doing anything. Look it’s Rihanna’s tattoo. Look its—zzzzzz.
Yes we have the new unedited version of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ With Mikky Ekko. Rihanna is usually mad talented so I thought I would watch it. I even thought hey Michael K. over at Dlisted might just be a little bitchy when it comes to this. Nope. I have to say after the first 15 seconds I started closing my eyes and letting my head fall to one side. Let’s just say ballads are not Riri’s strong point. And the video? It really is….something.
We all know I have BIG love for Lana Del Rey. Despite her odd little lip augmentation fluke, bitch is perfect. Sexy, sultry chanteuse who knows how to work every angle of the camera from near or far. Especially in no pants wearing a pink angora sweater. Add some cool looking retro people and a little man in a swank suit (midget, dwarf? I am so not PC) and we have a win. AGAIN. For H&M. Is there nothing they can’t do these days?
Prabal Gurung has stepped out to be a celebrity favorite in recent years. His clothing has something for everyone. From Michelle Obama to red carpet divas, his collection is both surrealistic art and feminine grace.
This year Prabal Gurung has taken the theme of military colors style that we see in so many collection’s and mixed it with draped material that flow against the body. Not forgetting well-placed fur trim, casual sweaters and and classic military chic crossed with with a vintage look of class from the 1940’s. These are apparent in every collection for Fall/Winter 2013. So what makes Prabal Gurung stand out above the many collections we have seen?
He crossed it with his personal touch including; well placed cut outs and the ever influential Gothic element, creating a striking collection. The biggest selling point? His above the knee buckle boots that are to die for.
